    Increased Performance

THE best performance is a healthy engine for the 5.0 V8. The best performance upgrade for the SCV6 is swapping out the lower pulley and tune. One of the guys I've met on here did this a few years ago was pushing about 450 HP and averaging 20+ mpg at 80+ mph in stop/go Los Angeles, CA traffic...

    Idle Help

How did you do your smoke test? Through lots of trials and mostly errors, I found this process the most efficient. This process allows smoke to fill the engine first to easily find the leaks as fast as possible. - Remove the harmonic intake tube - Remove the oil cap - Insert a "smoke machine...

Startup ticking noise - exhaust leak or lifters?

If you have a boroscope, you can try going from the side wheel well liners. But to really get a visual with the boroscope you need to remove the cats to see the exhaust manifold bolts underneath.

Startup ticking noise - exhaust leak or lifters?

Exhaust leaks definitely causes more engine noise as the ecu compensates with more fuel. I had a broken bolt on the exhaust manifold down to the cats. While removing the heads I found both heads with broken exhaust manifold bolts. I ended up removing the heads to remove/replace the bolts...

    gallery pressure

My 2011 LR4 5.0 V8 HSE Lux has a relatively new Hitachi compressor, all oem valve blocks, and less than 6 mo old oem air shocks all around. The old compressor was working, but took too long to get to the correct pressures. From memory, on normal height at start up it's relatively low ~50 psi or...

    Radiator Replacement

I ended up DIYing it and I must say taking it out was way harder than putting it back in. Overall, not too bad. It took 5 hours to do it, but I also did take an hour lunch beer break. Remove skid plates and bleed the coolant from the bottom hose. Remove the fan, fan shrouds (top and bottom), 2...

Seeking LR4 inline thermostat and crossover pipe Beta Testers

Too bad I'm in San Diego, CA. I'd love to upgrade to serviceable metal thermostat and crossover pipe.

    front drivetrain noise

I've done some 50+ mph trail driving in Mojave Desert and Death Valley. I leave it on Hi gear and (D) drive or (S) sport mode. It's scary fun trying to keep up with my street legal trophy truck buddies, but they're so fast that I often lose their dust trials. Anyhow, the sound that you're...

    Sunroof Drain...or so I thought!

@Tapps33 Crazy find. Those stupid foam inserts and sand filled plastic bags were the first thing I threw out when I popped off the side grills to clean out the drain tubes. Come to think of it, I need to clean mine out again. Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely seal mine up too. I've waded...

    Control arm fail

Find another Firestone. Most likely the one you went to don't have the proper equipment. I usually tell them I plugged in my (Gap) obd2 tool to lock the suspension and they're usually cool with it.

    Control arm fail

I really don't like Firestone, but have to grind through my teeth and smile through the whole process. I had a guy at Firestone that only did alignments and he could get them done in 45 mins, but he's no longer there. The other guys take their sweet time and often consults the service advisor...

    ZF8HP70 for ZF6HP28 swap?

Interesting... If I have bigger tires, can I simply swap out my 3.54:1 rear diff to a 3.73:1 to fix my acceleration, torque, mpgs, etc? What is the part number for the 3.73:1 rear diff?

    Idle Help

Don't read too much into that. I've been down the rabbit hole with charging. These vehicles are too electrically smart for its own good. The PWM alternator will get signals from the BCM and when working properly it will "SAVE" your battery from overcharging itself by maximizing charge levels up...

    Battery rundown protection?

Unfortunately, it's not heated any more. I live in Southern California and I rarely have a use for it to be heated. Up in the snow, I use my heated windshield. So, I'm not too concerned about using my windshield washer.

    Battery rundown protection?

I helped Lensun with the very first LR3/LR4 hood solar panel fitment. The first panel was off by a lot hitting the spray nozzles. The first one that fit correctly, I still had to dremel the nozzle holes. Anyhow, that $400 hood solar panel slowly died under a year and completely died 1.5 years...

    Battery rundown protection?

Hmm... I wonder if anyone has looked at the electrical diagram to trace out the common wire for all the door switches? Maybe have a switch that opens the circuit while camping and the doors opening or closing wouldn't matter.

    Affixing rear heater lines

Just grab a 50 ft roll of 5/8" heater hose. AC Delco/Gates heater hose $40: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C9NINU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Good time to relocate the factory hard lines from the soft lines at the bottom of the passenger side for bigger tire...

Loosing a little bit of coolant

It's the age-old debate over distilled water is pure water, and tap water has too much minerals, fluoride, etc... and if you're in Flint you're sol for the past 10 years. :bandit: I didn't want to go into it and that's why I just said, "water". :) I have a water softener and just did that...

Loosing a little bit of coolant

Although both JLR and Dexcool are both OAT, I still don't recommend mixing coolants. I had to completely flush out the coolant until clear including the rear hvac for about 7x before switching over to dexcool. Pro tip, just flush with water until clear and on the last drain you can fill with 1.5...

    ZF8HP70 for ZF6HP28 swap?

I wonder if you can swap out the TC, transmission, and the TCM as a set? Maybe you'll get the hi/lo gears too, if you don't already have it.

Loosing a little bit of coolant

I'm glad I've swapped over to dexcool a few years ago. I dumped 1.5 gallons of dexcool to get home, about 250 miles away. Imagine trying to find Land Rover coolant in an emergency, good luck. Moral of the story, be prepared and when you encounter an issue be over-prepared. So, you won't be stuck...

Loosing a little bit of coolant

Bet none of you ever seen a leak like this. Found this beauty of a leak at the radiator mount. I guess I drive so hard that its ripping the mount off the radiator. New radiator on its way, but w t f! Leaks can come from anywhere.
