    Auxiliary chain and sprocket change

Might take this job on myself, my fuel pump jumped time. @Thepuckstopshere @Rover Range Can you guys give me any useful guidance tips or ideas to get this job done without removing the oil sump. I have never attempted a job like this but am too invested in this car to just sell it so any...

Did you pull the front timing cover?

    Long crank, no faults

they told me they couldn’t recorrect it unless they pull the front timing cover. I’ll talk about it with them but I doubt they’ll do it. Worth a shot tho, definitely beats pulling timing covers or the whole engine out. so odd though, has anyone heard of this happening on these cars.

    Long crank, no faults

They reprogrammed a junkyard ECM and stuck it in the car but said it didn’t make a difference. Worth a shot tho, I’ll try it when they put the car back together and give it back to me

    Long crank, no faults

Believe he said they pulled the high pressure fuel pumps and were just able to see the cam follower and the markings and determine that it was just one tooth off. As for the preformance thing I’m kinda stumped by it as well. They seemed to have the same reaction of being shocked as well. They...

    Long crank, no faults

There was also one other thing that made me question the whole timing thing. The issue slowly got worse over time. But why? If it jumped time wouldn’t it be instantly bad cold starting? Why would it progressively get worse over time? It started off as maybe once every 2 weeks to once a week to...

    Long crank, no faults

Could you link it. They said they may be able to roll it back a tooth but they said they couldn’t do the full job unless the oil pan is off. I would rather be wrong and save the car so no offense taken if you can recorrect me. 6k scares me though even as is. Wondering if a different shop would...

    Long crank, no faults

Here to bring this thread and most likely all my time spent here to an end. Stopped by today to find out that she jumped time. Not actual time but a tooth on the high pressure fuel pump timing. They said they “might” (if they are unable to then I’ve spent money for nothing) be able to go in...

    Long crank, no faults

That what I was thinking, I found that weird too. The only thing that made me believe him about the code is that I did have 2 weird occurrences that were spread apart randomly. I would get step on the throttle to where I would be pulling in second all the way through 3rd-4th gear to around 4.5k...

    Long crank, no faults

What’s interesting is the mechanic said there was a pending cam correlation sensor code. He said he swapped both the cam and exhaust sensors and there was no difference. He also said he could see the sensor communicating with the ECM via diagnostic scanner. Apparently this is why he was pointing...

    Long crank, no faults

Interesting… wonder if that could be my issue. The other thing is it would crank slower with the cold/rain which hypothetically with a bad ground wire would be harder on resistance. Definitely worth a look, only other thing is I did boost it with a jumper pack and heard it crank very fast but it...

    Long crank, no faults

Agreed, the only odd thing about the PCM is some times when I tried to click on certain live values it would come up with an error on the IID tool app (not displaying N/A but a physical error message) that would kick me out of the live value mode or completely crash the app. I assume this is an...

Update on the truck, first I’m going to list everything I diagnosed then I’ll list everything the shop has done. fuel rail- checked for leaks/ moisture non found, checked sensor, read psi correct, voltage read within range and moved when cold, car preformed fine. High pressure fuel pump...

    Showoff Your LR4

Not sure if I ever shared these, took her up to mammoth (where my profile picture was taken nearly 7 years ago) to see the snow and hit the slopes. Crazy amounts of snow, pretty surreal experience, especially for California.

Best rack for LR4 without factory rails

I currently have a front runner roof rack. at first I had it without the wind deflector (big mistake) bought the wind deflector and it was pretty quiet till about 90ish. I run a light bar on the rack as well and a bit of my wind noise comes from that. over all wind noise isn't an issue as long...

2012 Lr4 service required message “Reset”

Trip reset hold down the button on the left turn stock and it should reset. For the service required message I think you need a scanner to reset it.

    P0442 code and CEL - 2012 LR4

Pull off the engine cover and the intake duct un clip the little hose that goes into the front of the intake manifold on the drivers side, cover the connector holes with your fingers and blow into it. If it’s not shut then your probably looking at a new purge valve. Happened to me about a year...

    Long crank, no faults

been busy over The Last week so the LR4 has just been sitting. Been driving my 5 series instead and noticed that after sitting for a week there was a drop of oil on the ground coming from the driver side valve cover back corner which makes its way from the exhaust manifold to the differential...

    Long crank, no faults

Ya I just replaced the plugs last year. I had the shop do it because I was in a hurry so I think the coils are still original. Maybe I’ll pull them this weekend and see if I see any fuel residue in the cylinders. The one thing that just doesn’t quite sit right with me is the fact that the car...

    Long crank, no faults

I agree with this but the sensor seems to be reading fine when the car is at idle and when accelerating. Plus the car seems to run great after it’s started. Another thing I notice is that the longer it cranks the slower it turns over when it finally starts firing almost as if the engine was...

    Long crank, no faults

To be honest with you I’m not quite convinced that pressure building is the issue. I say this because I’ve watched the car crank on cold starts to where it would turn over at 350 psi or crank it’ll 1000psi or even 1400psi and still not turn over. The issue has definitely progressed as well, it...

Low range was about 2.3 V. Starting to look like HPFP, again just odd it runs fine with good fuel trims

    Long crank, no faults

ok, if I go about replacing the fuel rail pressure sensor how should I go about doing it, should I remove the whole rail and then replace it or should I reach all the way back and try to replace it with out removing the rail? Also what should I use to retorque the sensor, to my understanding it...

    Long crank, no faults

here to bring you guys an update, started checking fuel rail voltage with ignition on before a cold start and I’m getting a reading from the high range sensor at .5 Volts. When the car is started it jumps into the normal range of .8-4v (usually settling at 1.2v when my other sensors normally...

    Long crank, no faults

So I checked the purge valve and it was sealed shut. But I also checked a couple of other what I believed to be vacuum lines in the engine. Now on if I’m not wrong (I’m not a genius when it comes to engines I’m just learning the ropes with this truck) there is a vacuum line that comes out of the...
