    Long crank, no faults

Ok so just clarifying again if there was no spark when the plugs were pulled and the engine was cranked then what were looking at is not fuel related. However every long crank issues on land rovers in general that I have read about that show the same long crank no faults runs fine have been...

    Long crank, no faults

So when I had another shop diagnose my car they claimed they put a junkyard ecu in the car and it still behaved the same so ecu would not be the issue.

    Long crank, no faults

I boosted it with a jumper pack but it doesn’t make a difference

    Long crank, no faults

Also to add, I remember having weird throttle activity while driving as well. It happened 3 times, it would feel like as it built rpms the power output would fluctuate, I originally thought it was my transmission since it was replaced but it went away after a drive cycle.

Also only correlation I can find to the low pressure fuel pump is that right after I turn the car off it normally won’t start however if I turn accessory mode on for seven seconds then turn it off for 2 and repeat the cycle 6 more times and then crank the car, it will start first try. However if...

    Long crank, no faults

Wow crazy coincidence. I actually first started to notice the long start after a night time off roaring trip I went on where my engine temp was around 210 and trans temp was around 205ish. My volts on the IID tool were reading 11.9 with my light bar high beams and fog lights on yet when I turned...

    Long crank, no faults

I’m back now that I finally have more free time so I decided to finally jump on this myself. Decided to use a borescope and pull the plugs just to be sure that I don’t have leaky injectors. My question, is this a normal carbon buildup pattern for a car with 143,600 miles? The center of all of my...

Timing Chains INA or Tsubaki how to tell?

here is another diagram Not sure if the tsubaki chains ever made it to the 5.0L v8 in the LR4s. All the parts websites never list any other chains for the LR4. I know they were in the 09 Jaguars but I don’t think they made it to the Land Rovers with the 5.0

    Mystery speedometer

That is the weirdest looking speedometer I’ve ever seen on one of these cars. It’s not even the right font. I’m willing to bet that there is more of a story behind that car. I can’t even find an OEM Speedo that looks like that. It also jumps from increments of 10 twice to 15 to 10 again and so...

    Auxiliary chain and sprocket change

Would it be easier if I pulled the condenser and the bumper so I could gain access to the auxiliary chain easier? Just confused on how you did all the careful tensioner work on the aux chain by reaching thought the top of the engine. Seems like it would be too awkward but maybe I’m wrong

    Auxiliary chain and sprocket change

Did you pull the front bumper and radiator to do the job or did you just remove the fan and casing around it and reach in there yourself?

    Long crank, no faults

I was talking about this, no worries though I can purchase them myself. could you send me the info if possible? Just trying to collect all the data I can before I go all out.

    Long crank, no faults

Don’t think I’ll need the pumps. They said they know it’s the chain and they could see the slack in the chain when they pulled the vacuum pump. I think you mentioned something about possibly letting me borrow timing tools to lock the cam shaft

    Long crank, no faults

Atlantic British and lucky8 don't have crank position sensors, and it seems like all my OEM Land Rover parts sites got shut. Does anyone have a reputable OEM parts sight that has good prices or is FCP my best bet.

    Long crank, no faults

Ok, I’ll go for the crank position sensor first when I get the car back. They said they saw the sensor communicating with the car while even cranking but it’s worth a shot.

    Long crank, no faults

Yup plus It would be the biggest job I’ve ever done, would prefer to not mess with anything if I didn’t have to.

    Long crank, no faults

Agreed agreed, just wouldn’t want to pull the timing cover and get all the tools to find out the fuel pump is timed but was just going bad.

    Long crank, no faults

Appreciate all you guys for all of the insight and convincing me to go through with this build. Before pulling the trigger I do want to address one thing, why did it get worse over time so slowly? If it jumped time wouldn’t it have been instantly bad and stayed the same the whole time? That’s...

I have jack stands and a jack, but am I going to need a lift of any kind or do any work under the car? I saw you mention something about the flywheel

    Long crank, no faults

Ok this would by far be the most complicated project I have ever tried. If I am going to attempt this I’m going to have to be extremely organized and careful, take pictures of everything’s configuration and take it one step at a time Do you think you could link me the part of the service manual...
