    Long crank, no faults

Here is my set up. I have ran a cable directly from the negative terminal on the battery to both coil grounds. If I shouldn’t be running the car like this let me know. Also I believe the car thinks the battery is low however there is no sign of lack of battery power. Every time it starts it...

Also here is an over view. I’ll take the intake duct off if you guys are Interested in seeing the whole set up

    Long crank, no faults

Does anyone know what part would have to be replaced? I’m tempted to just buy a used wiring harness off ebay

    Long crank, no faults

I wired my own ground from the battery to the coil ground, I unscrewed the ground bolt and screwed the wire into ground for the coils.

Got a CEL while driving on the freeway P010B-00 (EC) Mass or volume air flow B circuit - range/performance Also battery now says it’s low on the dash when I leave the car off for a bit.

    Long crank, no faults

Yup I’ll take one when I’m back at home, only thing is that I think the ground I ran from the battery is killing the battery while I drive.

    Long crank, no faults

After almost 6 months of headache, diagnosing fees and feeling embarrassed every time I had to start my car, this was the answer. Did the jumper leads on both grounds to the battery ground and boom car fired right up. Went to Home Depot picked up 10 gauge and wired it to the negative terminal...

    Long crank, no faults

Ok I’ll try that and see if it makes a difference, although I’m not sure I’m going to be able to get a jumper cable in that small space

    Long crank, no faults

Ok, I am back with some information. When testing the grounds I found that from the coil ground (the middle female pin) to the ground on the engine there is about .5ohms. However from the coil ground to the battery ground I would get fluctuations from 2ohms letting the car sit all the way to 4.5...

Ya I can see the ground to the coil banks in the photo and it’s covered in oil, that’s why I asked if yours was covered in oil as well. Ive had that oil leak for over 3ish years now and wouldn’t be surprised if it corroded that piece making the ground bad, I’ll clean it off and put a multimeter...

My passenger side is covered in oil but my driver’s side is fine. I’ve neglected this oil leak for a long time so my thought is couldn’t this have corroded the ground for the passenger side coils?

Hey buy chance, do you have a leaky upper timing cover/valve cover gasket that just covers your upper timing cover in oil?

    Long crank, no faults

Ok so I did the same test with the new coil and spark plug and there was no difference. Going to test ground points either tomorrow or Friday.

Also from this photo just trying to understand this illustration, is that a positive charge cable that goes from the alternator through the starter all the way up to the battery? Since we’re both having issues with the car actually starting and weird voltage issues this cable links both of the...

    Long crank, no faults

Also would this not point to a bad coil ground?

    Long crank, no faults

I’ll check this, also I’m a noob when it comes to electronics, how would I check the grounds and know if they are functioning properly, I read a forum a while back with someone that owned an LR2 that had a bad starter ground but the ground looked good but something with the amps not meeting...

Range Rover Sport apparent fuel/fuel pressure issue(s)?

Maybe this is an obvious question but any codes? I’ve been chasing an issue with my 2010 LR4 that involves it not wanting to start but once it cranks over it runs fine with no codes and no issues with stalling, wonder if your issue is similar. I first thought it was a fuel delivery issue but I’m...

Where do the coils get grounded? I have leaky valve covers and a leaky passenger side upper timing cover and I’m wondering if this could mess with the coil grounds at all.

Ok just ordered a plug as well.

Just ordered a bosch coil from FCP since they were on said, comes July 6th

Do you know who the OEM manufacturer of the coils on the 10-13 5.0L V8s are? Just want to get the best prices of OEM parts.

    Long crank, no faults

Is there not a better way to test the coils like using a multimeter or will that not tell me anything? Another idea is that I could buy a coil and see if I can see any spark difference between the old and new one. I also forgot to mention that I pulled the coil and plug out of my parents...

    Long crank, no faults

Ok, just pulled a plug and cranked the engine with the plug grounded to the body and I can confirm I’m getting low spark (hear the plug clicking but can’t see spark) and I can also smell fuel coming from the open cylinder so I know fuel is getting into there. So now my question is where from...

    Long crank, no faults

Major favor but could someone that doesn’t have the spark issue give me a video of what the spark should look like as a baseline?
  25. Jimmy Brooks

    Long crank, no faults

The main correlation that I’m fixated on is with the no spark discovery yoy made and the fact that my pistons had a clean spot as if fuel has been spraying on them and not igniting. I’ll let you know what I find when I borescope it
