“Wow so I don’t see the timing chains/tensioners ever done in the history. I almost don’t believe it haha. They’ve gone through tons of brakes, tires, Oil changes, a few water pumps, a caliper here and there and then some evap repairs. They’ve been servicing the truck here since day one so we...

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

using different weight oils isn't like putting diesel into a non diesel car. if i wanted to use one oil weight across all my cars it wld be 0w-40. the rover guy who who services my rovers uses whatever he thinks is best.

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

i never said the lightest is the best. 0w is the best at startup. the "ideal" all around oil is 0w 40 synthetic.

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

Ur response didnt make sense. On what basis do you conclude 5w 20 gets you longer engine life when both 0w 20 and 5w 20 behave the same at operating temperature? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

for me synthetic is synthetic. i live in the northeast and my cars are parked inside every night so even when its zero out i dont have a ton of cold starts. 0w flows better at startup. is it so much better than 5w who the hell knows.

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

i use 5w-20 because i dont care enough and its easier to get. 0w 20 wld be better for my car but as i said i dont care enough as i cant measure the difference.

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

many companies in all industries sell all sorts of crap. in your opinion when is 5w 20 better than 0w 20?

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

0W is relatively new in terms of oils, past 10 to 15 years. the first number is for starting when cold and second number is for operating temperature. there is no doubt you cld run 0W-40 in these cars. if you lived in 130 degree climate maybe 5w 20 wld be "better" than 0w 200 but anywhere less...

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

people like over complicating stuff but unless you are running a race car all day synthetic oil is synthetic oil. 0w 20 is always better than 5w 20.

well here is what 15k mile annual oil intervals gets you - from blackstone oil analysis: "This is a very clean first report for your Discovery. Wear metals are a little lower than we've found on average from these 5.0L engines, and you ran the oil pretty close to the average interval of about...
