It took me 3 months to find a competent indy that wasn't full of lies and games. I filtered a lot of them out by scoping out their shop first and then talking to them secondly. All their websites show Land Rover images, branding and lead me to believe they were experts but the truth was they...
This is the broken part pictured below. Its a ford part. He wasn't being very clear about its name, but to me it look like #2, but mine doesn't have a second tube on the flange like the service manual image shows. That image is for a 2011 and I have a 2012.
I had my LR4 towed to the shop since it was clear and obvious there was a problem. It would miss, shake the drivers seat, check engine light was on and it would go into reduced power mode. I finally got a callback yesterday.
They said there is an oilier type device (I forget the exact term...
I'd get some data logging and check your air fuel mixture. I think uburnt fuel can damage cats over time and if your mpg is down that would also lean towards a too rich mixture problem.
It isn't a complaint. To me using a 1/2 tank of gas shows effort. Why does gas usage sound like a complaint to you?
Aside from that, it started running like crap this morning. I didn't notice it running rough until sitting at the light at the off-ramp. No check engine light and it didn't set...
The shop fixed the reduced power problem. They said it was a connection issue and re-seated the cam sensor plug, but they also swapped cam sensors to see if the code follows the sensor. I'm pretty confident the issue would have reproduced by now. Or it could be the problem behavior changed and...
It looks clean. If I get new rims I'd get a set of polished aluminum, but I have found any that I like. The whole idea is to run BFG All Terrains with the white lettering on the outside. I love those tires.
Interesting observation. As an aside, when my oil level was low I didn't see the "Add x quarts" message. That would have been convenient because I was asking myself how much to add. It was all the way down so I put in 1 quart but that tripped the overfill condition.
I might get a quote for a shop to do it. I'm not sure where to route the power cable through the firewall. I heard there might be a way through via stub for a clutch pedal on the passenger side (USA). Where did they go through the firewall on your rig?
I'm in the city now, downtown Las Vegas where the music is loud. I might sell the equipment or put it in storage when I go back out into the country so that I can use the space to sleep and store more important gear.
You don't agree with what? They didn't ask to do the additional labor, but either way it isn't a big deal. In the past when I've taken my car in they make a diagnosis. Then they cal and propose a solution and that it will cost $x and it will take about x amount of time.
I'm thinking I might sacrifice the cargo room and get a 12" JL ported box, an amp and a bass level control. I need bass lol. Where did they run the positive and negative wires to the amp from? Did they draw from the battery?
I took the LR4 into the shop and at noon they said they couldn't reproduce the reduced power problem and would try again later. I told them what I was doing when the problem happened and got a call from them saying they swapped cam sensors because there was bad information on the CAN bus (or...
When my LR4 goes into reduced power mode, it seems like its running on 4 cylinders and its definitely noticeable. It doesn't sound like reduced power mode is functioning properly or there are variations of reduced power mode.
The exhaust does sound better. Its noticeable, but for me its too quiet. I'm pretty sure whatever he is selling is at least $500 if not more and for that I'd want a lot more snarling sound and even better with crackle and pops on de-acceleration.
I might try keeping one muffler for each side...
I haven't heard it, I'd like to though since they are replacing the factory rearmost muffler. Its that factory muffler in the rear that I think needs to be replaced and then have the front resonators removed with an X pipe. That way the exhaust won't be too loud, yet it won't have a raspy sound...
I searched high and low for a sound I liked but in the end I kept the factory exhaust. Its harder for the cops to spot me. A lot of the cars around here sound pure bad azs, but everyone can hear them coming and I have been pulled over in the past by that very same problem. Its entrapment is what...
I wouldn't drive too far with it, if at all. There is potential for catastrophic failure. The chain on my '12 was loose enough to move it with my finger, but no codes it was just clacking loud. The new chain is as stiff as a board. They replaced the cam actuators too as a preventative measure...
