    pizza cutters...General Grabber ATx

Boy, for a vehicle this heavy, I wouldn't consider not using an LT tire if I'm going to be doing anything trail-wise. I look at it this way: at some point on a difficult trail, a fair fraction of the vehicle weight is going to be on one or two of the tires, not spread across all four. And if...

    pizza cutters...General Grabber ATx

I agree, but I'm not convinced that his findings are generalizable. For what he's testing, though, they're very good tests.

    pizza cutters...General Grabber ATx

I've seen advantages and disadvantages to each; wide versus narrow tires. I currently am running 275/70R18 Cooper MT's on mine.

Coolant Leaking from behind rear wheel

Interesting. So you're just diverting the air around the heater core for colder air, and back through it for warmer air? I've not had mine apart, but on my old FJ-40, the valves controlled the coolant, not the air. I can see why it's harder to control coolant, though!

Coolant Leaking from behind rear wheel

Are you saying that the rear heater core always has flow through it, even when the rear heat is off?

Coolant Leaking from behind rear wheel

I don't know that answer, but if it is just a valve that shuts off the flow through that rear heater core, that doesn't mean it's shut off the circuit from the rest of the system: if there is pressure anywhere in the system, it'll try to find a way out. Imagine a hose with a leak in it about...

Anyone care to admit this was them? Off the edge of a cliff and recovery from Matt's Offroad Recovery.

I would guess that most of his income now comes from YT, and I can't imagine the pressure he is under if he drives from UT to southern CA and discovers an untenable situation. It has to be easy to take unnecessary risks for the sake of the sunk cost fallacy and to make sure you have content for...

Low tire pressure indicator light didn't shut off

I don’t remember having to drill out rivets. Are you sure those aren’t just guide pins?

Low tire pressure indicator light didn't shut off

Yes...it's not a complex mechanism in there. I took it apart to clean it and put some dry lube in it. Also to replace the end of the cable so I could have a pair of Trail'd jerry cans in there and a skid plate on them.

I'm a fan of the Tactical sliders. They hold up very well on the trail.

    Sunroof Drain...or so I thought!

I appreciate you sharing this,Tapps33. Once liquid gets above the freezing point here, I'm going to have to check and see if the moisture returns in my footwells. I've seen doors end up with their drain ports clogged with dirt...it sounds like there's at least one such area right underneath...

    Battery rundown protection?

I have had the Cascadia version for about 2.5 years. Naturally, just outside the 2-year warranty, I noticed some areas where it almost looks like parts of individual cells have broken under the plastic. It appears as almost "bubbles" or swells, and if you poke at it you can kind of feel what...

    Battery rundown protection?

This does not seem to be the way mine works. I've had my doors open for days (hooked up to a battery trickle charger) to dry things out after the sunroof drains and/or windshield cowl allowed water in. If I open or close any of the doors, even after hours with them open, the thing seems to wake...

2016 HSE, wet floormats, and can't find the drain ends!

Interesting. I'm not sure whether the new version is any different. It looks like that image is taken with the whole cowl removed? This is all I can see:

2016 HSE, wet floormats, and can't find the drain ends!

Thanks, @txfromwi. There is indeed a small gap near the passenger side on that cowl. The driver's side sunroof vent did seem clogged, but the passenger side did not. So maybe the cowl was the source on the passenger side. Is there a good source for that cowl? And what's the expected life span...

2016 HSE, wet floormats, and can't find the drain ends!

Thanks for this. Not sure what you mean by the "wheel arm liners?" You mean the plastic liners in the arch for the rear wheels? As difficult as it is to pull the intake grills off without breaking something, and given the way things are constructed, it's very tempting to put an extension on the...

2016 HSE, wet floormats, and can't find the drain ends!

Never mind...I found the tricky piece of foam rubber behind the intake that needed to come out. So I found the exit, at least. Now I just have to figure out if the drain is intact and working. Now, there are also drains for the rear, right? Where do THEY come out?

2016 HSE, wet floormats, and can't find the drain ends!

Hi, all, Feeling pretty incompetent. Floor mats on driver and passenger side front were recently soaked after parking level, outside, in steady rain. I pulled the roof rack off, and opening the sun roof doesn't show a LOT of material there...maybe a thin film of dust. But whatever, it's been a...

    Control arm fail

I doubt the arms themselves are the problem, in one sense. I suspect that the Lucky 8 arms would be fine with softer bushings that allowed for more twist to be absorbed by the bushing. But put a stiff poly bushing in there, and even if it is lubed enough to pivot around the bolt, the twisting...

    Control arm fail

As others have indicated, this seems to be associated with poly bushings. Whether the failure is caused by the bushing stiffness or by aftermarket control arms that might have come with them is anyone’s guess. i went back to stock bushings on mine, and I don’t regret it.

    GAP IID Tool help urgent

I’m not sure how to help, but if I were you I would turn off the car, unplug the OBD device, and turn the car back on to see if it resets itself. If that doesn’t work, disconnect the battery for a bit. Good luck!
