Rear wheel carrier latch question
I find the Tactical 4x4 one a little fiddly, because it's a U-bolt mating up to a hook. But it works well and is very secure. It's fiddly enough that if I can get stuff into the back via the rear passenger doors, I'll do that instead. But it's a good tradeoff. -
Where to tap coolant for a shower heat exchanger?
The problem is that I can't just tap it. I have to insert this in series with it. Looking over this diagram, that section of the upper hose, or at the section that Tees off toward the thermostat, might be a good place. Provided this thing doesn't restrict flow to any appreciable degree. -

I ended up going with the Lucky 8s with the urethane bushings. Yes, the ride is a little stiffer, but not bad IMO. What I do notice is that it handles much more firmly, responds faster to steering, etc. And the stock bushings were not all that bad...no leaking oil or anything. But I'm pleased... -

Went skiing up at Mt. Hood yesterday, with new Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 tires. Roads were snowy on the way up, icy on the way down. I was pretty amazed at how well these tires did in braking tests in all conditions. Didn't really feel the ABS kick in much at all. -

Last year I bought a set of tire socks. I have to say, they worked surprisingly well, and at least in Oregon qualify as traction devices. You don't want to run them on pavement, but then I'd say the same thing for chains as well. -

Thanks for this. The issue I had was broader than just that top strap. The bottom hit, too, and I didn't see how I could make it work without modifying both the mount and the vehicle beyond what I was willing to try to "see if I can make it fit." So I'm sending it back unmodified. -
