I don't believe that is true. Look at the pictures in this link. The non-G version of the part number is a genuine Land Rover replacement part as well https://lucky8llc.com/products/lower-steering-shaft-genuine

The ‘G’ designation is something Rover Parts does to distinguish the same part numbers across different pieces (genuine, OEM, OE); the part on lucky8 is a genuine part also hence the price being higher than an ‘unbranded’ OEM part.
If you’re only selling 1 type of part, you don’t need to differentiate it to others of the same part number.
