    Project Dark Knight Rising

Hey All! It's been a hot minute, and I've been making progress, it's just been slow. Hand sanding the block is taking forever, especially since I can only get to NJ roughly every other weekend. That said, the left bank was way out of whack all over, and I'm just now getting it back into...

    Exhaust solutions?

My plan for my "milder" LR4, is to install 2 aero turbine 2.5" mufflers in place of the stock muffler and resonator. Then install two 2.5" aero turbine resonators just before the end of the exhaust pipe. That'll open it up, and should sound A LOT better, but not have too much drone.

    Bad ECM or something else?

They will get hot, but typically they’re only gonna get hot when you’re really Pushing the engine hard and it’s hot out. Sitting at idle, there’s no requirement for charge air cooling as the SC really isn’t working, and hence the pump will not turn on. If the pump’s not on, it won’t push...

    Bad ECM or something else?

A couple thoughts… I think you’re looking in the wrong place. If the whole OBD2 system is down, I would be checking the connector ground behind the footwell kick panel. (Both sides just to be safe). The PCM being down won’t cause full loss of communication, heck I’ve only had 1/2 my modules...

Yes, I've been looking at that. It still has the same charge cooler design though. I mean, that's the great thing about it, it's 100% stock bolt up! With heat soak being such an achilles heel for these things, I feel like even the Harrop SC will suffer the same issue until the heat issues...

No, I’m looking at something to increase airflow and reduce temperatures…and allow me to possibly swap out for a larger SC. I’m thinking of trying to mold something like the whipple design: Or maybe the coyote: I feel like a taller SC cover plate will help the airflow better withing the...

    2015 LR4 - Major engine work - Sell / Sell Parts

Honestly, for the cost, I'd try and sell yours as a fixer and just get another used one. In the end you're going to come out WAY ahead. That said, these things tend to sit for a while as fixers. However, a low mileage 2016 will probably only run you $15-$16K. So, you'll already be $3K ahead...

    2015 LR4 - Major engine work - Sell / Sell Parts

Ok, lemme first say I'm looking at your pictures, and the damage....if any, isn't all that bad. I've seen these engines run just fine with bent valves and imprints in the pistons. I will say $19K for a reman engine sounds about right given the fact that $12K is probably the engine cost...

No, unfortunately I didn't take any "pre-sanding" measurements save just putting my straightedge against the block and looking for light. That said, I didn't see a whole lotta light. Granted the angle was terrible, and it's hard to see through the front of the grill to check. Which leads...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

OK, so I finally got a little work done this past weekend. It took me roughly a day or so to get my deck prepping tool made...and that was mostly because it took the JB weld that long to set up. Basically, as I don't have the tools on me to pull the block back out, I'm "decking" it in the...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

Thanks! I appreciate the support! I've got the heads back off and am taking them to the machine shop sometime this week to be pressure checked, cleaned and resurfaced. (Not gonna lie, kinda jacked up the one head trying to get it pried off the block. That said, I've heard a rumor that the...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

I plan on pulling the heads, again, to get them re-checked at a shop near me. Maybe they got damaged during the move to TN or something? As for the block, that's a little trickier. I don't have the capacity to lift the body to pull the block again, and there's a lot of crap that has to be...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

Well folks....it's been a rough weekend. Turns out, I didn't screw up and nothing broke, and the timing is dead on. Then I went and checked the cylinders again and noticed a lot of oil pooled up around the head gasket, and potentially some coolant in one cylinder. (Although there's a chance...

2012 LR4 infotainment problem. Help please!

I’m not sure whether it replaces the satellite module, but I know we don’t have them here in the US. It’ll look a little different, but that’s where the module is located. You’re welcome btw! That said, it was the. It’s from PowerfulUK who made the video. Although admittedly, I’ve watched...

2012 LR4 infotainment problem. Help please!

The rear quarter panel is right next to the 3rd row seating. In order to remove it, you have to remove the lower seatbelt bolt, a Phillips screw about halfway up the rear of the rear door frame, the rear cargo tie downs and trim plate, then the tailgate support wire. This video explains it A...
