Yep...the mods begin. Modestly, but still fun. Upon buying the truck, I noticed that the PO did not clean the steering wheel very much...or ever from the looks. for only being two years old, the wheel was sticky with oils and the leather was effected pretty deeply. I tried to deep clean the leather and treat it, but nada. Sooo...after finding a good deal on eBay, tada...a brand new wheel. I pull it off and took everything apart, cleaned it all up and replaced it with the new wheel. Looks BRAND new!!

Next up - clear side markers. Another eBay purchase. A fellow Rover fan was selling his and I snatched them up. I am already liking the direction.

Stay tuned for more coming up.

I would not mind some clear side markers, ar eyou talking about the side repeaters though? I need a tow hitch, some mud flaps, either sliders or side steps, and one very important one, sill protectors, given the height of the truck, I feel its a must, but I did not see them in the accessory catalogues though :( Any thoughts?

By the way, how much did the new steering wheel cost ya? DId you exchange it your self?

I think we gotta categorize this as "accessorizing" not "modding."

Sounds rather ***. Modding please. Besides, the steering was a PITA at first.

Whats the difference? Many Mods are just Accessories as they serve no function, IMO, it is interchangeable to a large extent. If we are talking about white fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror, then its definitely accessorrizing

My point was only that putting on different colored marker light lenses does not constitute a "mod."

Maybe BazLR3 has unwittingly touched on a definition. A mod adds functionality that was not otherwise there before. Examples are skid plates, sliders, lifts, lockers, winch-bumpers, etc.

Accessories change style. Lights, rims, sidesteps, stereo, seat covers, etc.

Maybe I'm just bein' a ****.

Not at all, you are fully entitled to your opinion. I do agree with your definition though, it is well presented and clear separation between both types of Ummmm 'changes to one's vehicle' :) :) :)

Not to worry my friend. These are on their way. Looking for a good price on the Mantec front plate. Also thinking RS sliders. But...the prices for sliders on this rig are absurd. :stupid:

Cool....and I agree on the RS Sliders. I want them, but with that price they qualify as part of my "one toy per year" quota allowed by the wifey. So...maybe this spring!

I am with ya on that. When I bought the ARB sliders for my old FJ, no problem. These are another story.

On another note, I am looking into a custom spare/Jerry Can swing arm that will fit to a stock rear bumper. I have a really good custom fab guy that helped me with my racer. I am certain he could fab up a really nice piece. I just need to design it up. I'll post progress images as I do.
