Coil electrical connector removal (x8)

Hi Folks, the following is a picture of the electrical connector that connects the coil to the engine wiring harness. There are 8 of these; 1 for each coil (it's the V8):

I really don't want to break any wires so I'm looking for tips on how to disconnect these; is it a case of pulling back the tab (to the right in the following image):

Or is there more to it? Any other tips, they seem quite stiff... Thanks.

Slide the white locking tab and the plug will come right off. I used a very small flat head and placed it down in that small curved spot to assist with moving it as I was afraid to break the white tab because of age.

Thanks, I already lost one small white tab, I think it has a metal clip underneath so I'm hoping it's still OK...

No metal clip. If the connector snaps onto the coil and doesn't pull off, you're good to go.

@Longtrail, could you snap a closeup picture of the plug once it's disconnected? Are you supposed to push the gray tab toward the plug (perpendicular to the direction of connection)? Looking to document how the retention mechanism works...

Once you plug the connector onto the coil, you push the gray tab towards the coil. Should lock on.

First up, here's the one that's broken or missing the white/gray clip:

Here's a closeup of the clip fully engaged, in this position the connector will not disconnect:

You simply push very gently in the direction of the two red arrows:

This yields this:

If you keep gently pushing in the same direction the connector comes off:

It was a lot easier to remove these than I was expecting (given how hard some connectors can be to disengage). Questions?
