2016 LR4 and Liftmaster garage + slide gate opener

For now I’ll just have the liftmaster remote on the visor. Looks like the repeater is the only option, but I don’t want to mess up the other car.

Just FYI, the "other" car (I assume you are talking about the 17 Range Rover that you successfully programmed?) will still operate the MyQ opener, with or without a repeater installed for the LR4.

It doesn’t impact the other car. The garage door opener just sees the repeater as another remote. It basically dumbs down the protocol/encryption for older cars.

Your garage door will still work with all existing remotes and programmed vehicles.

That's the repeater you can get for just Shipping and Handling (about $7, although it may have gone up a couple of bucks I guess, since I ordered mine about 3/4 years ago) if you call the folks at Chamberlain / Liftmaster and ***** about their MyQ garage opener being incompatible with your LR4's Homelink buttons.

I have an older 2014 LR4 and we have similar issues. We can program just fine and it will work during the day just fine, most of the time, but at night or when it's raining or heavy humidity, you almost have to touch the door with the car before it will open. Otherwise as I'm driving up to my house I can press the button and it will open just fine. I've extended the antenna wire with a 6-8' piece of wire in hopes of it helping, it didn't. I guess I need to call the manufacturer. They have a boost antenna / module that's supposed to help. Sorry you are unable to get yours programmed.

@LocoRover Do you have any LED lights powered up within close proximity of your transmitter / receiver, either in your garage or your vehicle? A few years back I had to troubleshoot a gate entry system in a local community that was acting up after we had installed 50 LED lamps around the gate opener receiver. At night, homeowners were complaining that they had to get right up to the gate in order for it to work. We ended up installing a few sets of lamps before we found the right manufacturer that worked without interfering with the system. I didn't want to believe it at the time. Some poorly made LED's emit RF signals that can interfere with the frequencies door openers use. Just a thought.

Done everything the manual says. The manual says to reset “hold buttons 1 & 3 for 10 secs until slow blink”
I do this, light stays solid.
manual says “don’t hold for 20 secs”
WHY? What happens after 20?
I held 1&3 for 20secs... light blinks fast.

I had to hold my 1&3 buttons for 30 secs until I got the fast blinking that reset the Homelink in the car. Then I pressed and held the remote opener button whilst pressing and holding button 1 on the car for about 5 seconds and it programmed first time. After I programmed the remote control to the Homelink in the car, I then had to press the 'Learn' button on the door opener, then go back and press button 1 on the car within 30 seconds. This synced the car to the door opener.
I repeated the process with button 2 and remote opener 2, then programmed button 3 to open both doors.

I have a 2011 LR4 and Chamberlain / Liftmaster door openers that are maybe 10 years old. I have also used the same process on my 2010 Mercedes, 2009 Porsche, 2013 Mini, 2003 Mercedes and multiple different Chamberlain or Liftmaster door openers. I have never yet had a failure to sync.
