Hello,

We just bought a '16 LR4 HSE in Santorini/Almond with:
Vision Package/Climate Comfort/Tow/Sirius/In Apps.

I have a couple questions maybe you all could help with. I came from an '09 Q7.

1) With the IIDTool what are the common hacks you can do with the car? Can you disable the Nag screen on startup, Enable video while moving? etc.
3) My rear view mirrors don't dip on reverse. I read that this was discontinued in '12. Is this true, or a setting?

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know the mirror dip is a setting that is accessed in a settings menu on the tft screen between the speedo and tacho...at least it was on my 2010.

1) You can only enable legal/valid options with IIDTool. Getting rid of the legal disclaimer and watching videos on the front monitor while the car is moving are not options you can can turn on with IIDTool (or any diagnostic program, including the approved one the dealer uses), so no you can't do that. I thought the nag screen would clear by itself after a few seconds on recent model years, though?

2) My 2013 has dipped mirrors, I can't imagine they would have removed that option on later model years, but I guess anything is possible. Enter the instrument cluster menu with the steering wheel buttons, select Vehicle Setup and check the "Reverse-dip Mirrors" box to enable them. To adjust their angle when backing up, engage reverse - you don't have to have the engine running - and use the mirrors joystick and buttons on the door to position them to the way you like them in reverse, then save their setting into a memory along with your seat and steering column position.

My wife and I have had our 16 HSE Lux about a month now and the mirror dip is set on the TFT display on the dash. It does not dip nealy as much as my M3 but it does dip some.

A tip for others searching in the future. On the '16 HSE (non-Lux) there is no dipping mirror function. :-(

At least we have an answer why.

As I mentioned above, you can adjust the dip "angle" of both mirrors (with the controls on the door, while you have reverse gear engaged) and memorize it along with your seat's settings if the current angle is not to your liking. For example, in my car I adjusted the driver side mirror not to dip at all - I don't like that mirror to move when I back up, but do like the passenger side's to show me the curb near the rear wheel.

Yep, I am pretty sure on earlier model years as well - not just 2016s - dipped mirrors were not an option on non-LUX models. Kinda silly that you can fit your model with surround cameras if you want to, but can't have more basic safety features such as dipped mirrors unless you move up to the fully loaded trim.
