Guys and gals,

I see that Land Rover offers "deep discounts" to members of the military who are stationed overseas. Does anyone know how much of a discount it ends up being? I'd love to get a Range Rover Sport, but I could definitely wait a while till I'm deployed if the discount is significant.

Thank you kindly,
RN

Yes, I looked into it and it's no more than a military discount here in the US. I don't remember the exact figure but no more than 10% sticks in my mind.
I contacted Land Rover directly from their website while I was deployed to find out the story. This is the point of contact I got. Nice guy but I don't know their flexibility - and I was looking at the D90 so was looking in the UK.

What state do you live in? I bought a 2008 LR3 HSE from Bedford Land Rover in Bedford, NH when I got home from Iraq. They were great and gave me a good, no haggle discount off of the vehicle. The General Manager and a couple of the sales people are also prior service and they're a smaller shop, more focused on the customer and repeat business than 1x sales.
Let me know.

Do you mean that Land Rover will offer a military discount even if you are located in the states, and not deployed? 10% is nice, that would be absolutely fantastic. I am in Colorado. I'm in the market for a Range Rover Sport. I just worry about the huge immediate depreciation if I buy it new.

I bought mine used from a LR dealership and worked out a discount on the price with them. As for brand new in the US, I asked at a dealership in Santa Fe and they did not but were willing to price negotiate that in. The problem in your area (CO, NM, etc) is the high demand for those vehicles. I was looking at a couple in Santa Fe this Summer and that's what I learned - it applies to all 4WD vehicles out there, especially Land Rover's and Range Rover's.
As for the 10% in the UK, I don't remember the exact figure but the dollar amount seemed comparable to the discounts I could get the ENCS offices for a new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited or a new F-150 Supercrew Lariat. You'll find reps at all the bases overseas and can work out deals through them for a new car or truck. But, for a vehicle purchased in Europe, factor in the shipping costs too.
Anyway, good luck!

They offer a HUGE discount over stateside prices. You have to be deployed military or permanently stationed overseas. I bought my HSE LUX (2011) while deployed to Afghanistan. You have to be deployed for more than 30 days before you can order the vehicle. Be prepared to give a copy of your orders. Do NOT buy the vehicle stateside if you don't have to...the price that Landrover will give the military sales agent is LESS than what a stateside dealer pays for the vehicle. I went to a local dealer to see if they would match the price--only to eliminate the wait--and they did everything in their power to convince me that Land Rover does not do this...they were simply trying to get my business. The GM later apologized for his agents not being upfront, because the MILITARY Auto Sales had to call him directly. He also said he would buy 20 more cars, if he could, at the price i was paying. If you want an Agent's name I can refer you to one directly. The ONLY downside is the wait. It took 3 months to get my vehicle. Ryan

What were the shipping costs and logistics? Did that offset your savings?

There were no shipping costs. It was sent directly to the Centerville dealership in Utah--that was the closest one to me. After you specify your order, the agent deals directly with the factory. They ship the cars through Baltimore--no import tax, and then send it to the closest dealer to you. The deposit was only $1500 dollars--unbelievable!! Even the options on the car are priced below invoice...I'm telling you now, get the word out on this...more service members need to be rewarded with this kind of treatment. My agent would be more than happy to help you as well. They very quickly respond to email, and are always available with live chat and order tracking online. You can call them directly--if you want to pay for the international call. Any more questions? Feel free to call...Capt Ryan "Cheech" Lucero 719-246-6202.

BTW, they also give a guaranteed delivery date. If the car is not there on time, they will refund the deposit if you are not happy. My car went past the delivery date by three weeks...to offset the trouble they supplied me with a free 3 week rental on a brand new Yukon. As you can imagine, I've been 100% pleased with the transaction.

Sounds like a heck of a deal and arrangement. Worth looking into in a few years.
Thanks.
