Has anyone ever drilled into the vertical supports behind the front grill? I am getting ready to mount a 30"LED lightbar and am mounting my "L" brackets just inside the headlight assemblies. What ever the material is, at the bottom of the opening are the two slots the grill fits into and there are two criss-crossing members meeting at the top and providing the mount bracket for the horns. I took a magnet to the vertical supports to no avail (they are NOT ferrous). I thought maybe painted aluminum, but scratching two small areas so I could take a continuity measure came up as an "open". Maybe plastic? It does not appear to be fiberglass or a composite woven material. Maybe a molded and heat treated resin?
If you have any experience, please let me know. Thanks.
