Posting this in the hope that it helps save someone else time and sanity trying to figure out the vibration issue.
I came across this while looking for LR4 tire advice, and called the dealership in Denver to set up an appointment for them to see if the fix had been installed. It hadn't, and as it was under warranty, they put the damper in for free.
~2,000 miles later, I can say that 90% or more of the original vibration around 2600 RPM is gone. Vibration was felt more in the steering wheel than anywhere else, but did have a noise component.
Technical Bulletin No: LTB00305 (issue 1) dated 13 Aug. 2010
Section: 308 Audible Boom / Vibration @ 2,600 - 2,800 rpm
