At the end of a 1000 mile round trip, the car suddenly ran rough. Pulled over and when I checked for anything obvious - nothing and no more rough vibration. Then today it started again - growling & vibrating- under load. Comes and goes but alwaays under load.
Could it be plug wire or boot?

Topped up oil just before trip and its showing about 110% of max on dipstick.

Without your giving us a lot more information, it would be hard for use to guess. How many miles on it, what octane gas are you using, when was it last tuned along with wires and do you get a check engine light, if so what are the fault code numbers?

87K, Regular gas (by mistake), no fault codes/no check engine lights, last tuned 8K ago, plugs changed/ Mistakingly put in too much oil in. And drove it 1,000 miles. Is it too late to save the engine?

How many miles on the RR? What plugs did you put it... you say you put too much oil.. are we talking a quart or 5 quarts?

if you look at the dipstick when cold its maybe 50% more than the distance between low and full.

If it is about the full line by 50% drain the oil and start fresh before you blow out every seal in the engine.

Could be, or it could be the U-Joints on the front drive shaft starting to go bad.
