2005 lr3 285/60 r18 rubbing frame! help!!

I searched and couldn't find any help so if u want to comment and say search I did and couldn't find anything....

Ok so I have a 2005 lr3 se and just put new tires on went to the 285/60 r18 and the passenger side tire rubs on this piece of metal that is bolted on the frame in normal and off road height. It rubs going forward and backward. It looks like I can just take this piece off to keep it from rubbing but I wanted to know what it is used for before I did. I will try and upload a picture of it if my phone will let me.

unbolt it....but be warned it is said to be their for impact protection for your feet.

Or have it modified by a fab shop. Still would require unbolting.
