So, many of you such as myself use the 1791 hack quite frequently. That said, a new 2008 Disc DVD is out. I've done the same process as before with the 2006-2007 DVD. I've removed the file that blocks the 1791 hack and all works well.

Some people may not trust themselves messing around with creating DVDs and whatnot. That said, if you would to have a copy of your own 2008 DVD with the 1791 hack enabled, I'd love you help a few of you all out again.

If you would like a copy/backup of the 2008 DVD, private message me and I'll fill you in.

Thanks!

I just joined this membership and requested help with unblocking the navigation supression on my 2008 Range Rover. I'm not computer savy in any way, and am hesitant to play around with such an expensive toy. The 1791 patch did not work for me.

Can you provide a lay person's step by step approach to solving my problem

If you have a 2007 or later LR3, RRS or RR the 1791 code doesn't work anymore, sorry. It has been disabled in the firmware, no computer hacks can bring it back. Land Rover shut that back door for good. Only MY 2005 and 2006 can be bypassed.

So you have this working in an 06 RR? With what year DVD? (I have an 06 RR HSE.)

And did you previously try a disc that didn't work and it subsequently update your firmware never to be re-updated or did you get around that or is that not even true to begin with?

Thank you!

Plenty of 05/06 RR owners with touchscreen nav use the code, but it will only work on MY05/06s if you still have the original disc (2004/2005 DVD version, the first one provided by Land Rover to Denso based satnav systems on 2005/6 RR, RRS and Disco/LR3) in the drive, or modify a 2007 or 2008 disc prior to inserting it in the drive following angasreid's tutorial above. 2009 discs can no longer be hacked, unfortunately. If you "try" a disc that doesn't work you are screwed, since the first thing the new disc does when loaded in the drive is modifying the firmware and erasing the 1791 back door. Your car then becomes just like 2007+ models, where the bypass is disabled at the factory. Hope this is clear.

Thanks for the clarifications... Very helpful. How can I tell what year the disc I'm using is?

You'll have to eject the disc from the drive. The label on the DVD identifies the Land Rover and Denso part #s, and usually indicates the issue year.

I purchased a used 2006 RR Supercharged. It did not come with a navigation disk at all. Can anyone out there help me? I'd like a recent version....
