    Another Defender hint?

The D5 isn't a bad looking SUV but it doesn't stand out like the LR4 does. Some people may like having a luxury car that doesn't draw attention but I'd take the one that stands out 100% of the time.

    Another Defender hint?

LR4 is one of the best looking SUVs ever made. It has a classy but capable look to it. I'll never understand how LR went from that to the D5.

    Another Defender hint?

The diesel engine doesn't make sense in the D5 like it would in the Defender. The D5, while it has the ability to do some offroading, it isn't really marketed as such and there are several other products that do it better at a lower price. The benefits are more torque and longer range and most...

    Another Defender hint?

I get that. The interior is nice, couldn't they have just shoved that in the old body style and made a few tweaks to that to conform to all of the rules and regulations of today? FCA has nailed that philosophy with the Jeep and the Challenger. Mercedes did a good job with the G class refresh...

    Another Defender hint?

""The challenge for our designers and engineers was to create a vehicle relevant for the demands of today’s world while capturing the essence of the original. The new Defender is respectful of its past, but it isn’t harnessed by it.”" -Gerry McGovern I'd fire this guy on the spot if I ran the...

    Another Defender hint?

I can't decide if I should love it for what it is or hate it for what it could have been. It's a good looking SUV for 2019. I haven't seen a new SUV in the last 8 years or so that looked quite as good as this one. It keeps reminding me of a mashup the Ford Flex and Ford Troller, in a good way...

    Another Defender hint?

When you put some accessories on it, it does look pretty good. To be successful the way it should be: -It has to be able to take aftermarket bumpers and rock rails -You have to be able to lift it to fit larger tires -You have to have decent wheels that allow you to have an option of tires.

My fear would be the locking diff would get tossed in a premium package that forced you to get the air suspension too.

I just cant get this image out of my head.

    Another Defender hint?

Bumper integrated into front quarter panel. o_O Is this an electric vehicle? It doesn't have much of a grille. It looks like the Rivan concept. :puke:

    Another Defender hint?

I agree. I'm cautiously optimistic about this product but it seems like Land Rover has abandoned their roots. The Defender should contrast the other Land Rover product lines and not be more of the same. If I ran Land Rover and I was given the three lines I would differentiate them. Defender-...

    Another Defender hint?

I'd argue the Discovery and the Range Rover are poor products for a diesel engine. It's an upscale car. I don't think that market will trade the convenience of gas for the range of Diesel. I live in a rural part of the south where diesel trucks are everywhere. It's about a coin flip for a...

    Another Defender hint?

If I could get a diesel, that would be fine. I'm sure there will be a EGR delete for it at some point. I'm sure some European countries and a few of the California cities are all in on it. If that's the case and I ran Land Rover, I'd sell just they hybrids and electric cars there and sell...

    Another Defender hint?

Yeah. I don't think they're smarter than us. I hope Land Rover(and other companies) figure this out before they ruin what's fun for all of us. Just curious, what region are you in?
  15. D

    Another Defender hint?

Is there one? It seems like every major company is. I don't think electric is particularly reliable, especially offroad. I like gas engines and I love diesel engines. It's a shame we've got these engines to be so clean, efficient and reliable only to try to phase them out. A two stroke leaf...

    Another Defender hint?

Is Land Rover -completely- doing away with purely internal combustion engines? I'm fine with hybrid and electric options but I personally would never want anything to do with any of that.

    Another Defender hint?

It's looking better. I hope there is an Army green or Land Rover green color like the attached image below. With a color like this and some black wheels, it may look really good. The thing that worries me is that LR may make these things hard to customize. If I had one, I'd want to add custom...

Thinking about buying an LR4 for Offroading/Overlanding

When browsing on autotrader or cargurus, is there anything that is a giveaway for an LR4 that has a locking differential?

Thinking about buying an LR4 for Offroading/Overlanding

Thank you for the detailed responses! Regarding the lift, I found this youtube video. I don't know if this product is available in north America: I dont know anything about it or really much about air suspensions in general.

Thinking about buying an LR4 for Offroading/Overlanding

What are some of the issues with lifting it? I've done some research on the traction control, that's kind of why I ask. A lot of the videos on Youtube nowadays blur the line between the words "review" and "advertisement" in the sense that they present traction control systems as this miracle...

Thinking about buying an LR4 for Offroading/Overlanding

I've been looking for an affordable option for off roading that still has a good amount of features. I've kind of honed in on the LR4 as well as the LR3, Discovery 2,L322 Range Rover, and the L320 Range Rover Sport. Outside of Land Rover, I've looked at the Lexus GX460 and GX470. I'm wanting to...
