    Disco 1 in Iceland

Thought you'd all enjoy seeing the shots included here of a well-worn Disco 1 in the wild in Iceland. https://www.hatchmag.com/articles/highlands/7714752

    Do bushings save control arms?

I see. Well it seems crazy to replace control arms at 42k because of some rattle/wobble. I can remember all the shops I talked to about the control arm replacement job (which was at 198k on my LR3) saying how everything gets fused together and getting them off is where the labor comes in ...

    Do bushings save control arms?

I guess the other question would be whether it's a viable DIY job, as well. IIRC, it was the labor on the control arm job that was the killer. Parts were only around $600 or so. But every shop I talked to said it was a lot of labor ... but I feel like I had, at some point, done some bushing-only...

    Do bushings save control arms?

The triple whammy of a F+R control arm job, shot front air struts and needing to replace a drive shaft + center bearing was what finally sent my LR3 out to pasture (a decision I still regret to this day). Given how outrageously expensive LR control arms are -- I'm trying to be smarter w/ my...

Question for LR4 owners that switched to 18" wheels

You shouldn't, based on any other reported experience I've seen. And now on my (completely limited) experience thus far. 265/65/r18 KO2s installed this AM. No rubbing as of yet, though I haven't had a chance to test access more yet. So far, so good.

    LR4 Brakes and Rotors

Getting closer, but still too high. A full OEM rebuild kit will run you around $900. It's not a $550 labor job. Not unless they're charging dealership labor rates, that is. Pretty sure my local dealership charges around $600 in labor for a brake job. A local shop should be a fraction of that.

    TMPS Recommendation ?

Okay how do I get that compressor? :)

    TMPS Recommendation ?

Seems like it would be easier just to buy a small compressor.

    LR4 Brakes and Rotors

I've been buying EBC rotors and pads (usually greenstuff) from Atlantic British for probably a decade now. Been pleased. If it's front only, as @Fuji4 said, you shouldn't be getting hit for more than $100-200 in labor.

    TMPS Recommendation ?

It's also worth mentioning that the third-party, more data-filled/featured sensors are cheaper than sensors that work with the (dumber) factory system.

Engine light + "Restricted Performance" warning in cold temperatures

Nope. Where'd that idea come from?

Question for LR4 owners that switched to 18" wheels

Oh, I can definitely see that. In my case, it's Santorini black + black Tuffants, so ... I'd own Fuji white if I could have found it. ;)

Question for LR4 owners that switched to 18" wheels

I ordered 265/65/R18. Just wanted to be sure they're not coming w/ RWL on both sides. That would be a drag.

Question for LR4 owners that switched to 18" wheels

KO2s on the way. For those that have bought KO2s -- do they all have raised white lettering on one side and black on the other? Can't seem to find anything but RWL sold anywhere, so just hoping they have it only on one side (I think all tires that have raised white are only on one side, right?)

Engine light + "Restricted Performance" warning in cold temperatures

Had no idea you could pull codes at AutoZone for free. Will have to check that out. And the carbon buildup would make sense re: it tripping the code/warning when temps drop?

Engine light + "Restricted Performance" warning in cold temperatures

Unfortunately, I don't have a GAP tool to provide more info. Wondering whether this is worth going into the dealership for.

Engine light + "Restricted Performance" warning in cold temperatures

I believe I had this happen once last year on a particularly cold morning. This year, I've had it twice now. Once when it dipped into the 20s overnight, but again today when it only got down to just below freezing over night. I don't notice any change in the way the truck drives, and in every...

    TMPS Recommendation ?

You don't need any TPMS at all. My LR4 is the first vehicle I've owned that ever had it. My LR3 didn't, and I made out just fine for 10 years with no TPMS. TPMS is a convenience, nothing more. A nice feature? Absolutely. It's probably safe to say it even increases safety. But there's definitely...

    TMPS Recommendation ?

Makes finding the right mhz fun for MY13 owners (like me). :) One more reason to ditch the built-in TPMS system.

    TMPS Recommendation ?

Some 2013 models but not all? If you search LR parts or Atlantic British, it turns up both 315 and 433 for MY2013. Odd. https://parts.landroverannapolis.com/v-2013-land-rover-lr4--hse-lux--5-0l-v8-gas/electrical--tire-pressure-monitor-components

    TMPS Recommendation ?

Okay, so here's the story after a conversation with TuffAnt -- and I'm guessing the same applies to the Terrafirma. The steel construction leaves less room on the interior of the wheel barrel. So, while the OEM and similar TPMS sensors can be mounted in the valve hole, there is not enough...

    TMPS Recommendation ?

So, in the meantime -- several websites (Atlantic British, a few LR dealers, etc) are returning both 315mhz and 433mhz TPMS for the MY13 LR4. Anyone have any insight on which is correct? Or will the truck actually work with either?

    TMPS Recommendation ?

Unless I'm misreading other posts, there is at least one other user reporting incompatibility, possibly two. One user in that other thread noted, "So just left discount tire and the VDU TPMS sensors, which have an aluminum nut similar to the OEM TPMS would not sit flush in the 18” terrafirma...

    TMPS Recommendation ?

In my case, I'm looking to install TPMS (OEM or new, I don't care) on a set of TuffAnts that are on the way. Just trying to figure out what I need to do. Talking to TuffAnt about this as well, who originally advised straps for the OEM sensors. Asking about these other, aftermarket ones, but...
