I don't include tires or other extras such as winch, aftermarket wheels, roof rack, lights, skid plates, etc. in my "maintenance and repair" totals. Fuel isn't included either.

So with no tires or extras in the calcs, I am at $0.52 per mile over 48,949 miles.

If I tracked the cost of fuel I’d off myself. It’s finally getting cheaper now but it was essentially a car payment for a while.

Its important to journal, but I'm not getting analytical about costs. There really isn't anything out there like the LR4. You'd never see a loaded 4Runner or a Land Cruseir at the top of the grade first before the LR4. The 305CI V8 has way more balls and that by itself is priceless.

dont disagree, i have no regrets. happier to spend the money on this than to suffer depreciation on new cars over and over.

It's never a bad idea to know exactly where you sit with a car. I know each kilometer I drive my LR4 is $0.10 Cdn in maintenance (no fuel). My Ridgeline is $0.05 Cdn. The LR3 is $0.11. Takes almost no effort to track these.

$1328.84 spent on maintenance in 2023.

$3110.03 spent on fuel in 2023.

10508 miles.
$0.42 per mile.

$369.90 a month.
$166 in insurance.
$21.83 in registration.

$557.73 per month to drive this thing...

I honestly did not need to know that...

Yes you do. A lot of the mess today is due to financial ignorance. :)

Yep, not wrong.

I'm a numbers guy, and usually have a good idea of what this things costing me. Luckily I'm in good financial health, but I can see how these vehicles burn a lot of people.

I'm on reddit a lot, and like to lurk on /r/personalfinance... There are some interesting posts there, and that's only the surface of things.
