Well, mine was a necessity after ripping my bumper off within a narrow pass on a rocky trail. More than anything it adds confidence when I go off-road. I have scratches/dings on the underside of the bumper that remind me of it's value.is the rear tire carrier/steel bumper all about departure angle?
I think it looks badass, downside is that it's a total pain in the ass to get in and out of the back of the vehicle.Having a spare tire on the roof is all dandy. I kinda like the look and I was even thinking of doing that myself, until I realized the the spare tire can weigh 75 lbs. depending on the size tire and wheel. And since I just got new tires and had to lift the spare into the back of my truck, I suddenly had an Epiphany. Why the hell do I wanna mess around with a 75 pound 33” spare tire on top of my truck, while standing on the tailgate, hoisting it up and over whatever might be in the way, and struggling to get it to the ground without that losing control of the tire in the process. And of course, you can’t forget about Murphy’s Law. No doubt I’ll be in the mud, in the rain, and on the hill! Yeah, I think I just made my decision. Getting an off-road bumper with a tire carrier.
Well now, how do I make that decision, what do you guys like about your tire carrier on the bumper or don’t like?
Before jumping on a rear tire carrier... Consider getting a steel rear bumper from T44 and get it as an add on. If you go with terrafirma or another brand then decide to get a rear bumper down the line, you'll have to fabricate a special bracket to get it to work. Just a thought.View attachment 23283
I'm sure you could call Eric at T44 and see if he could sell the bracket. I removed my sensors via the gap toolCouldn't you just use the swing away from T44 and sell off the TF swing away?
Do all of your sensors still work with you T44 and tires?
