Hi I wonder could any one help me. I have a 99 TD5 disco with 120K on the clock. It suddenly developed a misfire that would clear itself above 2.5K revs. But from idle to 2.5K it feels like it is running on 4. I intially thought it was a bad tank of diesel (i had just filled up), but wasnt and i subsequently changed the fuel pump but the problem is still there. I can drive from a cold start for about 10 mins and it is ok but then the miss will come in again. Even starting hot it might take 30 secs for it to develop. I have also checked the injector loom wiring back to the ECU, there was alot of oil present in the red plug at the ECU and at the plug up at the rocker cover, i cleaned both out but I still have the problem. Any other ideas before I bring it to a dealer??

Sounds like an electrical issue.... I would start by making sure all connectors are clean and making good contact (engine related).

I would also check to make sure the injectors are working as designed, could be a bad injector.

ugp76 This is a common problem with early model td5's it requires at least replacement of harness to ecu with one for a latter model as LR made mods to stop oil getting in.If however the oil has got into ECU you may blow the limit on your credit card as Ecu has to be replaced as a close freind of mine had to do with a 2001 model Disco .Best of luck from 97Disco
