High beams and bumps

As my wife reports, rarely, but swears it happens, a slight bump or jar will cause the high beams to go on and stay on.

Hasn't happened to me. Anyone else? Thoughts.

Thats interesting. Is the stalk sensitive to movement? - Can you wiggle it and reproduce the problem?

If your fingers are on the stalk it moves very easily. A bump could do it.

I am not able to reproduce it. Over the weekend, we went over some train tracks, slight bump, relatively slow speed, and the high beams came on. I'll give it a wiggle tonight to see if there is more play than the other stalks.

I've seen that response in women before. I don't think she's talking about the headlights.....

So just to be clear Dr. Woods, you think the stalk isn't being wiggled at all? Are you suggesting the vibration caused by traversing generous bumps at speed causes the activation of the "high beams" purely through the stimulation of a misguided pin or plug somewhere? Interesting indeed.

Stalk was firm, yet supple, so no wiggle room. Next time it happens, I'll have her check to see if the stalk is actually in the 'high beam' position when the lights go on or if they go on and the stalk is not engaged in the high beam position.
