I'm pretty pumped. The local dealer (Bellevue, WA) is sponsoring an all-day off-road event at a 4x4 park in the peninsula (Bremerton, WA).

I expect it to be pretty mild, with little that will really ding up the Landy, but wondering what tips you all might have for newbies.

Listen to the instructor/spotter. Have fun and bring a camp chair so you're not stuck sitting on the tailgate like everyone else!

You'll have fun, depending on how they set it up, you will probably have a choice of beginner, intermediate and advanced courses. Most folks get bored on the beginner trails pretty quick and move up.

You will have fun, these sorts of events typically introduce you to the various features and vehicle capabilities, so you learn what it can do, what the vehicle is capable of and so on.

Typically you can expect a range of vehicles, and I have never seen a LR fail to move to the next challenge (except occasional breakdowns).

Bring folding chairs, and plenty of refreshments and have fun. These events are typically family affairs as well, so by all means bring the kids, etc.

ddv...you are going to Tahuya. It is a pretty easy trail, especially with the choices in direction that LR Seattle/Bellevue take in navigating their way through the forest. This is intentional. The nice thing about Tahuya is that as wet as it gets, the ground under all the puddles is pretty solid so traction is never really a problem. Here is how I advise you:

Put your rig in low range, mud & ruts...and turn the DSC off. Keep that configuration throughout the whole course and you'll be fine. There is one fun hill descent early on that you can just let the LR3 idle down...firm grip on the steering wheel. On any hill climbs, use a little throttle to maintain about 5-7 mph and it will do the rest.

Other than that...just have fun and I hope to see you there. My wife's niece's birthday party is that afternoon/evening so my attendence is iffy.

You'll be going to Tahuya, I signed up too late and everything was already booked.

Trail is pretty good, there is a harder south loop, but I doubt they will be going down there.

Only thing to really worry about is some light pin-striping from the branches that reach out on the trail

Nasir said he might not be going as well, I guess it depends if I'm packed and ready for vacation, I'm leaving for the UK a couple days later. Land Rover Experience here I come :bootyshak

Oh and if you want to get a look at the terrain, here's a video I shot back in March when Houm_WA and I were out there. Ignore everything that looks hard, you won't be doing those sections. Tahuya March 3 2012 - YouTube

Take some pics! I'm rollin' stock as of today...ready for my trip to Chelan over the North Cascades Hwy and through the Methow Valley. Not quite as **** as London but it should be a fun trip.

Gonna detail the ride on Friday...and if I do hit Tahuya the following weekend, it should at least be more interesting since I'm running the 30" Synchrones now!
