Considering the Evoque was T-*****, he's lucky to be alive.

Always look at the A post to determine the extent for damage. Mark was right on the Audi the crumple zone worked and protected the passenger compartment. The Evoque on the other hand had major intrusion into the passenger compartment. The reinforced boron steel in the door probably saved the RR drivers life.

Tata has spent too much time focused on the **** skin and moving units with less on advances in structural safety. The Audi "space frame" idea has been constantly developed over several years. Good thing for the Evoque driver they weren't hit by something like an LR4.

The Evoque is basically an overpriced Ford Escape. Perfectly fine as a Ford, a value even, but silly to be badged "Range Rover".

Taking an impact from the side (T - *****) is always the weakest link in the car's survivability , obvious really: 4" of crumple zone versus 36".

Usually suffer head injuries , not nice. Doubtful that the A8 would have fared any better if the reverse occurred.
