I recently posted a thread about my engine light coming on due to code P0128 referring to a bad thermostat. The engine light decided to turn off today which is a week from when it came on. The weather today is in the low 80's so it gives me suspicion that the fault code only comes on during cold weather. I checked coolant fluid which was at its correct level and I checked the t-stat housing for any cracks and could not find any. The engine temperature is also at its normal. I ordered a new thermostat and gasket which is in the process of being shipped. Scratching my head on this one. :albertein

I've found that after "X" amount of events of the same type the ECU will store the code and the light will not illuminate for the same reason (i.e. engine not reaching operating temperature). I see the point of this being, if you have a new engine warning you will now know.

Your LR3 is NOT Confused

Your engine will warm up faster in warmer ambient temperatures causing the fault to self clear. I am sure your fault will return as soon as the temps drop. This is the time of year that people notice the problem. In fact I did mine two years ago and it developed when the temps dropped and went away when they came back up. (In my case I went on a trip to a much colder climate then my home and it developed there)

Okay thanks guys. I'll go ahead and replace the t-stat when the new one comes in.
