Hi all, thought I would throw this out and see if anyone has had or heard of this. I have read through the forum and utilized the function as well, I was able to locate similar postings but nothing matching this situation.

I changed the battery in my wifes 2005 LR3 HS as I have done twice before (the desert heat zaps batteries here in Arizona). Anyhow, afterwards, the navigation system would only load to the Range Rover tag and then it stayed like this. Furthermore, the radio backlight was on, however I was unable to manipulate any of the buttons on the radio head - so at this juncture I knew, at least - it was getting power. Finally, when the truck was powered off, the radio stayed lit, as did the nav screen. So...

I figured it was just something with the computer brain of the truck. So, I disconnected the battery for 5 mins and then reconnected it. I was was happy to see the lights did not come back on. Though, now they are both off and will not turn back on and my wife is freaking out that I broke her car. I have looked at the fuses and I am dumbfounded, so figured I'd try here before taking the truck back to the stealership. Any input would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance.

Have you put a multimeter on the battery and checked the voltage?

I wonder of something else was disturbed when you changed the battery.

The other issue / concern would be a glitch in the system, due to the power failure. It might need to be reflashed. There was also some updates, so if you do not have a system to program it yourself, and read codes, you might need to visit the dealer.

In the mean time, probably no reason that you can't drive it if the battery is charging, and fully charged.

I've also changed many batteries, but have not run into that issue yet, knock on wood.

There are a number of Technical Service Bulletins on the system;

LA-419-001 - 1 hour software reset procedure

The system is "stuck" in an endless reboot cycle. I bet the new firmware that came out only a few weeks ago fixes those issues. TSB # LTB000179, issue 2, dated 02/10/2009 (in North America - TSB # and issue date may be slightly different in ROW):

ISSUE '2' CHANGES ARE HIGHLIGHTED IN BOLD

Situation: During or just after engine start-up, the following issues may occur:

• The HLDF may 'freeze' while displaying the Land Rover logo and the audio system cycles 'on' and
'off' every three seconds;
• The HLDF may 'freeze' while displaying the Land Rover logo and there is no audio.
These issues may be caused by a loss of communication between the HLDF and the Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) system, causing the MOST system to enter a continuous re-boot cycle.
Action: In the event of a customer concern of any of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure below to reconfigure the HLDF and Integrated Head Unit (IHU).
