As of today I am Rover free. Started with a LR3 HSE and moved into a 2010 LR4 LUX. The LR$ was a wonderful vehicle with tons of family memories. All in all it was quite trouble free. I got through ownership without ever needing a fancy code reader.
Original air system and the chain/guides were...
I have a TPMS system failure warning. Looks like I have two choices. Throw some parts at it and replace the receivers (It looks like the 2010 has one in the drivers wheel well and rear passenger wheel well) OR buy a IID code reader and turn the damn thing off..
Considering what engines alone cost the buyer has done well. The covid boom in pricing has dissipated?

I have been chasing down an oil leak. In the process of swapping diff/transfer fluids I noticed there was clean oil on the new alternator (Nov 2022). Old alternator was dry. In between Nov and now I also performed an oil change where I noticed for the first time that the filter oring had become...
I was removing a dodgy alternator and it slipped breaking the pigtail wire on the back. Does anyone have the LR part number for the little pigtail connector?
Thanks
The LR4 got it's third set of LCA's after the cheapies (eurospare? lasted 4 years and 35k kms) puked the oil and it was clunk clunk clunk. I was a little nervous of the solid bushing design vs the oil hydro bushing but ride quality does not seem worse. Let's see if they last but the arms looked...
I cannot find this info anywhere and short of weighing each axle at a weigh scale I don't have an answer. Has anyone weighed their rig to determine a proper weight distribution? Usually reviewers list it in the specs but in this case nada.
Long time owner who got a little too lackadaisical with the brakes. Wife mentioned something felt different with brakes. Shine a flashlight in and see outer pad is thin 2-3mm but ok. Go the extra mile and pop the wheel off and both pads are thin but OK and it will need new pads. Passenger side...
Getting the clunk on braking again and I am 90% its the LCAs again. I last did them 5 years ago and only 50k kms so would hopefully like something more robust. Not interested in poly. Where is the best deal these days?
Getting some paintless dent repair done and a plastic bit on the cable that connects the door latch broke. I think it is the cable that connects 1 and 4. Or is this just for the actual lock?
Part searching is definitely not my strength.
Thanks.
Noticed some wet staining below both rear silencers. Bottom of silencers wet. Feels a little oily. Normally I would expect it due to short trips but this seems a little much and perhaps greasy to touch. Weird as I am sure if there was that level of oil moving through the exhaust I would be...
In the process of replacing the front crossover (fell apart upon removal). Have question regarding this little black pipe connecting to pump. How do I remove it?
Noticed some old coolant (running pink but the stuff turns orange?) in the front area of engine. I immediately thought failing front crossover. Upon disassembly the valley is dry with no coolant and crossover is dry. There is old coolant near the front under the pump (back of pump) so I suspect...
I noticed the old LR4 has a few side markers burnt out. Manual says W5w (5W) but there were some stories of 5W melting things in LR3s. so better off with W3Ws? Your thoughts? I know leds but I have a bag of various halogens in hand.
One thing I did notice twas that in 2010 the manual lists...
I have either made a genius or disastrous move here. I began to get a bit of light brake effort high speed shimmy through the steering wheel which typically means the rotors are getting some runout on them. They are Zimmerman's and about 2 years old so I hope they are salvageable (may turn...
I have gone the LTX M/S route for years as an on pavement choice (original M/S, the M/S2 and now the Defender M/S). However the Duellers are cheaper. Anyone have experiences they wish to share?

You think I would learn as I went 18 months without re greasing the caliper pins in the front. Top pins were ok however the bottom pins won't come out. The bottom pins are the ones with the rubber grommet and I suspect the rubber may have swelled even though the grease is safe for rubber...
With the potential of the LR4 loosing coolant quickly through a water pump or Y pipe failure a reliable sensor on the coolant tank is valuable as it may be your first warning something is amiss. Unfortunately as they get old the sensor gets wonky and they begin to give false warnings (dashboard...
Finally got around to doing the other bank of plugs (passenger) and thought I would toss up a picture of what plugs with 160k kms (100k miles) on them look like. One of the plugs threads had light rust. The tips looked good.
My advice on plugs. Take you time and don't be in a rush. Plan your...
Simple proposition. Should I sell my 2010 and buy a newer 2013 for an additional $22 CAN? Very similar vehicles I know but the mileage is quite a difference.
2010: LR4 Lux, Vision pack . Full load outside HD 160k kms.
2013: LR4 Lux. Full Load outside HD. 45k kms.
So I gain 115 k kms (Aprox...
A few months back I had spied a D5 at the local dealer. I wasn't fond of the design and especially the rear end but I failed to appreciate just how awful it was. Fast forward to today. I was overtaking something that looked like an Explorer but with a larger more bulbous ass. Could it be? My...
I noticed my 2010 headlights (HID)were getting dimmer. Considering it is a Canadian model with the headlights on all the time this wasn't too surprising after 7 years. I replaced the bulbs (still both functioning) with new Phillips ones. The output was improved but not as good as it should be...
The last time my Rover was at the dealer (replacing the DTML pump that was damaged in a rear end accident). they noted the spare tire winch was "weak" Considering I had only dropped the tire 2 times since new I was suspicious. Either the auto body and/or the dealer damaged it and now I know how...
