    Opinions please (Non-Technical)

Fair enough, but if you think everything marketing does is run by engineering let me tell you that is not true. Nor would I ever assume that because a dealer does something, it's ok. Now, I'm not implying that the tire will blow up, just that that is a lot of load on a tire. Heck, I can feel the...

    Opinions please (Non-Technical)

I've done it a few times but not for extended periods of time - like a whole workday. I cannot imagine the suspension or tire was meant to hold such a high percentage if the LR4's (heavy) weight for 10 hours at a time.

    Instrument panel blinks. Help please

Does it keep keep doing this after the car is warm?

How (and why) to disable passive entry

LOL I'm not about to worry about that where I live nor at work. Could it happen at a mall/restaurant/shop? I suppose, but it is far from chronic and my car is insured. And I say that knowing that my car is worth far more than the book would say, given the options and mileage/condition.

    Tire Wear

Your tires made it to 50k and were hoping for more? That’s pretty good if you asked me. I suspect my OEM LR4 Continental tires could last me maybe 30k miles if I wanted to keep them that long. They suck, so I’m not putting them back on after this winter. I’m used to sports sedans and sports...

    Timing chain on 2011 LR4?

I have not had to look into doing this job, but that video makes sense to the extent that you are not replacing the chains.

    Brake Pads

Good to know. I trust Pagid from previous German cars. I'll those a shot next.

    Front brakes seizing (again)

You've never heard of Brembo? They are the premier brand for brakes.

    Low coolant. No leak?

    Thanks!

    Low coolant. No leak?

That's a good idea. I'll add the dye. Any recommendations? I checked the coolant level again recently. I can't tell that it has lost any coolant in the last two weeks. But admittedly, I've not driven it much.

    2012 LR4 LED Disabling...

Same here. Everyone does the traces nowadays. I like the "vintage" look of the dots. Only RR's and the LR4 have it.

    Timing chain on 2011 LR4?

Awesome! Thanks! (I have a 2013 and as such I'd like to think I am immune, but that is great nevertheless)

Differential, transfer case, driveshaft ... Your guess?

Yay I win! LOL I'm glad it was something minor.

    Front brakes seizing (again)

I would not have let the indie touch them. Pad/rotor wear is one thing. Brakes binding is not wear. That should have been/be fixed under warranty by dealer, IMO. Out of warranty is another situation. I have 33k miles and my pins are super smooth. Not sure what is going on with yours, but I'd...

Another Coolant / Cross Over Pipe leak...

I'm assuming that is what it is.

Will our LR4's be desirable in 10 - 15 years, or are they just another modern day LR?

Slightly off topic, but this thread made me think of it... What percentage of Discovery I's, II's and LR3's do you guys think are still on the road? Disco I's are 20 years old now. Are even 10% left on the road? I hardly see any. Maybe some have become dedicated off-roaders. Disco II's? LR3's...

Another Coolant / Cross Over Pipe leak...

That's very interesting. Especially coming from the Boston area, where there is a significant population of LR4's (and LR's in general). I had that low-coolant scare in Montreal, but checked it when I got back to Boston and could find no leaks even up on the lift. I'll keep an eye on it.

    Rear Locker

I can understand that few customers would need a locker and it is added complexity and cost, but really, for the $75- the option cost on a car this expensive it was crazy not to order it. The 5th wheel and tire alone paid for the $750. I'm glad I ordered it on mine, and as I mentioned before, it...

    Rear Wiper Issue

No experience with the LR4 on this, but from previous cars, that has always led to a bad wiper motor. More often it is the wiper moving slowly, but intermittent motion had also been a manifestation of a motor on the fritz.

    ECO Auto Start/Stop Not Available

I'm glad my M3 just has a button above the starter to disable it.

Will our LR4's be desirable in 10 - 15 years, or are they just another modern day LR?

For us, it was always meant to be the car for: -family trips -large item shopping hauling -taking many passengers -towing -winter storm vehicle For the first few years I used it as a daily driver since it was too new to leave parked. Now that I have a new car, it will be used for only the...

    Timing Chain repair costs

I'd agree. Especially if the truck is symptomatic. But I have a late 2013 (July) so I have to imagine I will be immune to the issue. I also have only 33k miles and no symptoms.

    Low coolant. No leak?

Well, I put it up on the lift, and the answer is that I found nothing. No trace of a leak. I removed the two metal covers, did a bunch of cleaning (after all, I just drove 700 miles through salty northern New England and Canada) and I could not even get a clear view of the water pump. I took...
