    If they’re open differentials then as long as the specification matches or exceeds the Lr spec then all ok. Just be wary of the 2 speed transfer case and locking rear diff if you have one, those have clutch packs in them and the oil is a bit more specific.

    If your mechanic is careful he’ll be able to dress up the thread, with a needle file or thread file. There’s maybe 2 or 3 threads clear of the hub nut when it’s up to torque. Fingers crossed.

    Ok. So if you pull the hub towards you about 2-3” then you should be able to drive it out. The inner spline of the drive shaft essentially floats inside the front differential as the hub articulates up and down. Anyway. Pull it out a bit then try.

    Silly question but. You are pulling the hub towards you slightly while you’re using the air hammer right?

    I’d sand it down and reapply the poly, especially if the wood is in good condition. The Land Rover ones are rather expensive. The Chinese aftermarket ones are very poor quality. Went down that route with my piano black. You can keep an eye out eBay though, there’s some that crop up.

    It’s plastic so you should be able to caveman it out. But do you need to? The top part is only about 30% of the entire assembly. So assuming you dont need to remove the bottom part you should still get most of the ‘efficiency’ effect from it. if it’s not strong enough without the top part...

    Just to get you going again. The shroud is only there for efficiency. At highway speeds the fan is doing basically nothing. But when you’re going slowly that’s a different thing.     Snappa pry bar in the gap in the casting between the sealing faces. It comes off with a bit of force as it’s effectively glued in place by the silicon that you use to create the gasket.

    If you’re replacing the upper control arm then don’t bother removing and just get a new sway bar link. I did that. Otherwise use a nut splitter and it’ll come right off.

    Air hammer. Takes seconds. It’s how I did mine. Then make sure you use a good lubricant when reinstalling. Also they recommend a new nut. Make sure you support the knuckle prior and you’ll be ok. Just make sure the driveshaft doesn’t pop out of the driven side.

    I got things delivered from Italy to the west coast in 5 days. So yep. Pretty quick I’d say. Assuming customs is a breeze.
