I got you.
I’d look at a car breakers if one is near you. But I’d definitely look at replacing. The original lr ones are pretty heavy gauge steel for what it’s worth so don’t discount them if you can get them cheap.
Ouch. At that price I’d have a go with this. Not a fan of eBay by any means but it comes to the rescue every now and then.

Still it’s very odd why they would change things.
Toothpaste works if it’s slight or go for a polishing compound for glass.
Bottom line though if it’s that bad then it’s probably a replacement. Are you sure it’s scratched and not just a build up of crud?
To check play jack up the front or rear until your wheel is off the ground. Axle stands are best. Then with a pry bar push against each bush and the frame around it in an up and down movement. There should be virtually no movement with a good bush.
I did the uppers when I replaced the lowers on the front. You need to remove some of the heat shielding and torquing up is difficult with the access. But it adds about an hour per side assuming you don’t have rusty hardware.

I hear it’s a real pain to access.
That’s right. Just be careful and protect the radiator matrix when you remove the fan. The viscous coupling is heavier than it looks and it’s easy to damage the radiator fins.
Give this a go.
If you’re still unsure which way to undo the fan. It’s the same direction that the engine rotates. “Effectively” the engine tightens the fan coupling while turning.
