2016 cost for replacement engine SCV6

I see. Good luck! Please share whatever information you do find. I'm sure others would like to know. I wonder what makes the current engine bad? It might be able to be pulled and repaired/reconditioned obviously for a lot less than a new(er) one.

    LR4 V8 skipped time finally at 245k

Agreed. Also, >$2k for it and a free towing seems pretty fair and easy.

If you don't mind telling us, what killed the engine?

Engine takes forever to warm up

At idle it may take a little longer, but not much more.

Engine takes forever to warm up

The LR4 is, by far (at least with the V8) the quickest engine to warm up I have ever owned. It's usually warm inside of 5 minutes, it seems.

How to sell a 2016 LR4 HSE Silver Edition?

Agreed. I have the Arabica/sand interior and it looks much better than that interior. I hate the two-tone wheel. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice car, but 49k? LOL Note that it's not "gray" leather. It's "Arabica," which is a dark brown. Looks beautiful. Mine looks like the one below.

    CPO warranty valuation?

For me, it would depend on how much I'd drive it. If you expect to get close to the 100k miles in 3 years, I'd put a lot more value on the CPO than, if like me, you expect to drive it 5k miles per year. Either way it's great to have, but in the low mile situation, I may value it half as much as...

How to sell a 2016 LR4 HSE Silver Edition?

At times I think that if our LR4 would fetch some silly amount of money, maybe we ought to sell "high" and get something new. Trouble is, to get the cargo space it gives us while having a decent 3rd row and a nice ride/interior, we are probably looking at a HUGE SUV costing well north of $75k...

    Oil Overfill Indication - 2013 LR4 5.0L

If you have the ability to suck the oil out, I would. Take out out ~1/2 quart and check. You can always add some back in. You can also drain some from underneath. I've done it in a Jeep. Not fun, but doable. If from underneath, err on the side of taking out more than you think, so you don't...

    Oil Overfill Indication - 2013 LR4 5.0L

I’ve drained my LR4 from the top and bottom and have never added more than 7.5-7.75 quarts and have had the oil level at full. Overfilling sucks, it’s worse than being a tad low, and I want to avoid it. My rule of thumb is to always add at least 1/2 quart less than indicated. Run the engine for...

    Oil level check when cold

On my LR4, it has to have been run, and then cool off a bit to get a reading. If I try to get a reading fully cold it will not work. I'll give the hood trick a shot tonight.

Steal of a deal on an LR4 with issues

"Underpowered" cars that handle well are crazy fun. I've had (and have) powerful, fast cars, but my '11 NC.2 Miata "beater" can be pushed really hard on the street without getting arrested. Super fun. I just put the snow tires on. It's ridiculous fun in the snow. :-D

Check to be sure you can actually use your spare tire

I swap the spare to rotate it once a year and always inspect the mechanism. So far so good. My '13 has the hole for the hook. I actually will be doing that tonight, when I will put on the winter Hakka's. It's also when I take the opportunity to treat surface rust on the frame with rust...

Gap IIDTool Issue - Device not Found

For a device costing THAT much, they really ought to perform final inspection. And I'm even looking at it from the customer experience side, which is at best very annoying. I say this from a production yield rate & cost perspective.

Rear gate access drop. How to disable?

My 2013 doesn't "do this" as described in the opening post. But what is clear that it does do is compensate for the removal of load when passengers or cargo are removed. Once our >150lbs worth of dogs are off the cargo area the tailgate height drops. This doesn't happen if, for example, I drove...

    GAP Tool Oil Level Readings

It's telling you that the system is actually only measuring the "depth" of oil (in meters). It then uses that value to make the volumetric calculation based on the known geometry of the reservoir.

Exactly! I'm kind of glad every time I go to use it I feel like it has been forever since the last time.

    Selling LR4

My app says GAP Diagnostics. (?) It has been working well when it's connected. It started having more and more trouble connecting (I use it once every many months, sometimes over a year) and the last time it would not connect at all. Then it hit me that I had never updated the unit since I had...

    Selling LR4

For anyone wanting to do their own work the IIDtool is basically a must. But I definitely can understand that it is a lot of money to spend. In my case, I bought it early on, when the car was nearly new and I knew I would have it for years. Also, relative to the price of a new LR4 it wasn't...

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

This is a long thread, so I will re-state my plan. I used the Gucci OEM Castrol throughout the warranty period. Before I decided to switch to the Mobil1 EP 5W-20, I decided to get a baseline lab report on my last Castrol oil, which is what I did. Since then, I've been doing yearly lab reports to...

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

Well, the numbers are as good as or better than the Castrol. The high aluminum reading (potentially suggesting engine wear) went down. The borderline flashpoint values improved, etc. As I mentioned above, my only concern in magnesium, but Blackstone doesn't appear to be concerned.

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

I should point out that I am very happy with how the Mobil1 EP 5W-20 is doing in nearly all measurements - except for the magnesium reading. I'm surprised that Blackstone doesn't bring it up. It went from 12 on that last OEM Castrol change to many hundreds ever since. But I guess all else is...

LR4s out there holding their value maybe more than just quite well

I personally don't think the D5 is an "ugly" vehicle per se, it's just not as good looking or unique as the D4. The back is not good and it just blends with the crowd. It lacks some character, IMO.
