    Crossover Pipe - Replace Pre-Emptively?

I would caution that this may not be as simple as it seems. Assuming you get a high-fidelity 3D scan, you would still want to massage the 3D model so that the connection geometries are accurate. That's easy enough to do. But printing that much aluminum could get pricey. Even then, there might...

More proof the LR4 is a very safe vehicle

Relative to itself against an immovable object? Almost certainly. There are new tests (small offset, etc) that the LR3/4 was never designed for. Relative to other vehicles on the road? Maybe. Probably. But I would not bet the house on it for all tests.

    Locking Differentials on Display Screen?

The more segments light up, the more it is locking. That's all. In case you care about knowing if it works only in winter, see thread below. https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/rear-locker-comes-on-more-often-than-i-thought.29365/

LR4 parked most of the time lately, any harm?

I'd agree that flat-spotting and battery are the things that come to mind. I've had my LR4 sit for about 3 weeks last summer while we were away. It fired right up with no issues (and that was with the 5 yo factory battery that I replaced shortly afterwards). A couple of weeks is not that long.

    Rotor wear advice

I had never before done pad-only replacements. I always changed rotors and pads together. The LR4 is the first vehicle where I just threw in new (OEM) pads. Did that for the rears 2 years ago, and this past fall for the fronts. No issues whatsoever. Rear pads fixed a squeal I had. It also worked...

    Rotor wear advice

Look, I don't want to sound like a snob, nor do I want to repeat myself, but I am a mechanical design engineer with 20 years of experience in product development and machine design. You can only squeeze so much in price before you give up quality for it. Those brakes, as discussed in that other...

Changing rear brakes now - some questions

Thanks. It's shown there with the winter wheels/tires. The rest-of-the-year wheels are the factory black package 19" wheels. I will be throwing out the OEM Contis this spring and putting on new Terraincontact AT Conti's.

Changing rear brakes now - some questions

A couple of updates to this thread since I just referenced it on two other threads... I ended up replacing the front pads this past fall of 2018 - two years and about 8k miles after I did the pads in the front. The rotors still looked perfectly fine though I did not measure them. I still have...

    Approaching end of lease...decision time

Per my thread: https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/changing-rear-brakes-now-some-questions.28728/#post-171742 ...the fronts (on my 2013) are marked as min rotor thickness of 27mm and the rears 19mm. But also, per that same thread, in my case, that equates to about 3 sets of pads.

    Rotor wear advice

My brakes were squealing a little and the rear pads were due. This is ~12k miles and two years or so ago when the car has about 22k miles. I replaced the rear pads and the noise went away. Rear rotors still had plenty of life (well over half the the range of wear allowed left). Though I suspect...

    Brake fluid low light

No idea. Perhaps the IID tool has some reset function? Otherwise you can always go medieval and unplug the battery for a while and reconnect. It’s a nuisance, but it might do the trick.

    Brake pad sensor function

I accidentally broke the front sensor and it was a gigantic PITA to replace it. Had to remove the wheel liner (or at least flex move it enough) - that was the worst part.

    Brake fluid low light

A few things... 1. You have a leak somewhere. Fix the leak. This is serious. Maybe they didn't tighten a bleed nipple enough. Check all calipers for a wet spot. 2. You probably already know this, but brake fluid is super corrosive. Take care with your safety and any material it touches. It...

    LR4 Shock Longevity

No doubt. On a car like this, $250 per corner is short money for an item that lasts that long. It's basically a once in a lifetime change.

    OEM Side Steps - Rust

I bought voyager steps and they rusted to a truly comical degree within 2-3 years. I got rid of them. Problem was, it started to affect my frame even under painted areas. So I taped and sanded it all away and primed it with an Easton 2-part epoxy primer (serious stuff) and then coated it with...

    LR4 Shock Longevity

Others may provide better answers, but anecdotally, I can tell you I don't recall hearing about those needing to be replaced and we now have several 100K+ mile LR4's in the forum, so they seem pretty durable.

    Low coolant. No leak?

Just checked mine on that exact spot and it is bone dry. Also, Coolant level still largely unchanged since Xmas. Not that many miles on it since, but several hundred are still something. I'll continue to keep an eye on it.

    Waxoyl treatment for LR4?

I would be very hesitant. In principle, and perfectly applied, it probably works well. But I could never trust that a surface as incredibly complex as the undercarriage could ever be cleaned, prepped and perfectly coated without leaving a pocket that will rust that spot behind the scenes. My...
