Every time my LR4 is inspected, the bill...

I've not paid any money to anyone to do any work on my LR4 (late 2013). Admittedly, I just crossed 36k today, but still. Oil changes, front and rear pads, one brake flush, and a new set of tires. Some minor warranty work done, but that's it. This fall I'll do more fluids...

    Rain Water Leak

This is a common issue and I remember reading about it back in 2012 when I first started considering an LR4. The water should end up draining behind the front wheels. I always check to make sure it flows properly when I wash it.

    Are LR4's actually bi-xenon?

I also had a V70R and can confirm that the Xenon high beams were super weak.

    Brembo & L319...

You mentioned you didn't care for the feel for the LR4 brakes. I am telling you I think they are fine for what the vehicle is. I've always had a properly flushed, full-OEM factory setup. Have you? I'm just curious if non-OEM parts or not-recently flushed fluid could be impacting your perception...

    Brembo & L319...

Have you had the full OEM setup? For the kind of vehicle it is, I think brake pedal feel is quite good. Also, make sure your brakes are bled. That will impact brake feel.

LR4 5.0 Chain Guides actual problem?

    Great info. Thanks!

LR4 5.0 Chain Guides actual problem?

I will say that while my oil looks dark, it doesn't seem any more viscous than when new. It just darkens but flows like new.

LR4 5.0 Chain Guides actual problem?

Same here. And the last two oil changes were at 5k miles or less.

Anyone try the ceramic brembo pads that rockauto offers?

Good to hear. How do they compare to OEM?

2012 lr4 oil in intake no start

A couple of things: 1) Define "overheating." These are aluminum blocks and don't withstand overheating very well. A little hot is fine, but cloud-of-steam billowing from your engine bay is bad. You could have damaged your head gasket. 2) That it was overheating and low in coolant tells me you...

    2012 fault lights!!!!

Have we not concluded by now that the first thing to look at in terms of faults is the battery? OP, how old is your battery?

    LR4 wheel studs?

    LR4 wheel studs?

B&S could well be the best. I'm not going to argue that. But I've worked for 20 years at and with many engineering companies and visited countless suppliers and customers and Mitutoyos are everywhere (R&D, Metrology labs, QA labs, etc.) and not a single complaint and I hardly saw B&S. Ours have...

    2013 LR4 Rotors and Breakpads

I trust Brembo, so could be inclined to try those. Similarly, I know Zimmerman is an OEM manufacturer for German cars and I installed those on my BMW as was quite happy and they performed exactly as OEM. But unless there are noticeable savings (I have no idea if there are or not), I'll just...

    2013 LR4 Rotors and Breakpads

I've commented on this before, but FWIW, I know OEM parts are not cheap but given my low mileage use, I won't take chances and just use the OEM stuff which works quite well. Excellent performance, quiet, no issues.

    LR4 wheel studs?

I have a set of Mitutoyo Digimatic calipers which are considered the gold standard in engineering. But I don't usually use it for car stuff. I bought a couple of POS Harbor Freight digital ones for garage work. They are accurate enough for those purposes. If I really care bout absolute...

    LR4 front pad change

Agreed. How on earth do you not know when your brakes are due? But I already had the new cable and I did not know what I was getting myself into.

    LR4 front pad change

Yes. And also, don't let your wife come in and rush you and make you forget to disconnect a perfectly good wear sensor that you end up damaging and then spend more time on that PITA job replacing it than you spent on the actual brake pad job. Just sayin'.

Local Tire store refuses to install S rated tire on 2015 LR4

I'd agree with tire age. Note that age is not as critical when the car is out of the sunlight. Nothing degrades rubber and plastic more than UV. Leaving a car out 100% of the time in a sunny place could make the tires degrade in just a few years. This is why there was a recommendation on not...

I have 35k on mine since I got it new late September 2013.

Local Tire store refuses to install S rated tire on 2015 LR4

OEM Contis are V-rated. Townfair Tire installed Conti Terraincontacts that are also V-rated. It's a freakin' heavy, capable SUV. They should let you install whatever you want. I can see issues like installing different tires, or only 2 tires, etc. But a complete set of tires just based on speed...

    Review of Continental TerrainContact A/T

Sorry about the tire, but very impressed by your review. These tires seem like great road/off-road tire.
