Does the vehicle stay in off-road height when turned off?

I have a friend whose child was crushed to death in his driveway. Do it right. Every time. Put jackstands, wood blocks or something similar under the frame rails when crawling under there. It only takes once.

So You Want an Auxiliary Fuel Tank for Your LR4...

Glad to see someone has one up and running. I would bet there are still less than 10 in North America. Sounds like it might be easier to get the tank in hand now at least, without having to go to the trouble of importing it oneself.

2011 LR4 front air strut replacement

I had very little issue getting at it from the wheel well using a stubby ratcheting wrench. I think I found one for $15-$20 at Home Depot.

    Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding

If you have a hydraulic PTO, why stop at the chainsaws? Put a front end loader on it and fill in or remove obstacles to travel, as needed.

    Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding

I do strap a chainsaw to the roof rack if hitting a trail, but it is not part of the permanent inventory. I forgot to list the TP.:) I have a wife and three daughters. Every single one of them has given me shit at some point over being "overly prepared". Every single one of them has also...

I patronize a small, independent tire shop for just that reason. They do all my mounting/balancing and flat repairs.

Water tank under cargo area floor?

Agree with maintenance of a permanent tank being a PITA. Ever been in an RV with a skunky water tank? I carry my water, when needed, in two military plastic containers on a rear bumper swing. Easy to wash out the cans with a little bleach and water before or after use.

    Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding

Off the top of my head without going out to do an inventory, the following reside full time in the Rover: IIDTool GOE Emergency air "Jumpers" - air hose with quick connect and schrader valve Air Hose with assorted quick connects Lithium Jump starter Tire Plug Kit Assortment of Fuses, Wire...

New air struts and Lucky 8 SYA kit

As someone who has done this, I would recommend understanding what you are getting into and having the necessary tools to get to a workable setup. IMO, do not do this unless you have both the rods and a IIDTool to fine tune your setup. @ryanjl is correct in that if you install the strut...

    Battery Issue? AGM Lifetime?

I have several NOCO chargers and have been very happy with them. One lives under the hood of the LR4 and various others scattered around the house and farm. I have revived at least 2 batteries using the "repair" function.

New air struts and Lucky 8 SYA kit

Just put the strut spacers on and be done with it. It opens up some more options. I was having a beer a couple evenings ago and eyeing the 285/75R18's on my truck and thinking hmmmm?????

Bolt-on Roof Racks for LR4 Without Rails?

FYI. I have run the cheap, Chinesium short rails via ebay under my Prospeed rack for years without issue. Wouldn't be surprised if they came out of the same factory as the OE's.

4x4 sPOD or comparable power distribution suggestions?

OK, this could be fun now. Just browsing the multi-switch panels on ebay. Can get mudflap girl, stripper pole girl, girl performing service, etc. lighted switch covers. My wife is gonna love this.

4x4 sPOD or comparable power distribution suggestions?

That is slick. Did you fab up the plate to replace the ashtray yourself, or did you find a off-the-shelf item that fits? I currently have my air comp and front locker switches in the the little console cubby to the right of the shift lever, but I live in fear of somebody popping into the truck...

    Battery Issue? AGM Lifetime?

Here is what Traxide says, in case anyone is following the discussion: From their website: SOLAR and BATTERY CHARGER Connections. Again, with the unique way the USI-160 operates in the SHARED Mode, you can connect solar panels ( via a solar regulator ) or a battery charger to either battery...

    Battery Issue? AGM Lifetime?

I think we discussed this at some point. I just rely on Traxide's affirmation that both batteries will be fully charged regardless of which one is connected to a charger. I have my underhood charger connected to the cranking battery, but my volt meter tells me that both are, indeed, charged...

    Battery Issue? AGM Lifetime?

The charging system on these trucks sucks. Period. I have cycled through all of the ccf profiles, and never noticed a measurable difference within a few days after the ccf reset. My solution was to mount a charger under the hood with a receptacle mounted in the front bumper so I can easily...

    djkaosone build thread

You and I should drink beer together. Very similar trucks. Still have 18's on mine, though and also still need to get around to setting up an oil catch can. I would be interested to see a pic of what you did with MOLLE on the front seats. I have been considering something like that to mount...

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

Steep descents on loose, rocky slopes rely on brakes (which overheat) rather than gearing to control speed. Reduced ability to crawl at zero or near zero throttle over obstacles. Reduced torque available at wheels for any given engine rpm. I think you would be very hard pressed to find someone...

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

Yours does not have a low range. I'm probably the odd man out here, but for me, that would be a deal killer for a trail rig. Of course I'm also the fella who added a front locker, so I'm pretty far out there on the spectrum.

Pro-tech automotive did my differential refresh/locker install and I am very happy with their work. Don't know if they have done any chain jobs, but on other items, I would not hesitate to recommend them. ETA: I liked them enough after speaking with them that I put my LR4 on a trailer and...

TIRE noob HELP. Thought and input - Duratrac 275s
