    Be Professional, Be Polite, But...

I will post you guys a pic of the fittings later when I get home. I bought mine from a now defunct Australian company called GOE (Green Oval Experience), but you could very easily replicate it with readily available parts. Basically you add a "loop" into the air circuit for each corner from...

    Be Professional, Be Polite, But...

have a plan to **** everyone you meet. 10 years in on my 2012, which has been to hell and back, and I finally had my first air suspension failure. I was somewhere above 13,000 feet on Kendall Mountain near Silverton, Colorado when the Rover had what sounded like a fart, then a small pop and...

    2010 LR4 Off-road wheel and tire options

I say this as a Compomotive owner, but one of the options, the Italian made ones IIRC, do have a higher load rating than the Compos. My wife agrees with your other comments, but the sawzall has to eat...;)

Remind Me Again Why We Love These Things?

It is interesting, but note that I made sure to specify "anecdotally". To get real measurements, you would need a calibrated volt/amp meter with a data logging function. The extent of my measurement is a plug-in voltage gauge and/or plugging in my GAP Tool. I know empirically that my factory...

Remind Me Again Why We Love These Things?

I should probably have put a P on that item. I don't know that they were bad, but at 80k+ and two sets of front bushings I figured they must at least be "tired". I swapped them when I changed out all of my bushings to the orange poly. Well, almost all. My rear wheel knuckle bushes were...

Remind Me Again Why We Love These Things?

I know we have discussed the charging system before, and I feel the same way. Super frustrating, as I'm sure JLR has a way to deactivate it, since the armored versions of our vehicles do not include it. I made one change since we last discussed it that seems to be helping. I replaced the...

Remind Me Again Why We Love These Things?

This was my first Rover back in 2012, and I heard all the horror stories, but honestly, except for the timing chains/guides debacle, I have been quite pleased. The water pump is annoying, but at least it's cheap. I can swap one out now in about an hour with experience.

Remind Me Again Why We Love These Things?

It's tongue in cheek. I don't regret any of it. I enjoy this thing more than any other vehicle I own, and I think I'm at 8 right now. I'm a little opposite of you, as I have elected to keep my Wrangler nearly 100% stock. It was just a little sobering (thus more beer) to write it down and see...

Remind Me Again Why We Love These Things?

A buddy asked me recently if I would consider selling my Rover, which got my mind to thinking how I could ever put a price on this thing, which led me having a beer and trying from memory to list everything I have repaired or modified on this thing. That led to more beer to numb the pain. If...

Google "battery monitoring sensor" or "BMS" along with model and year and I'll bet you find it.

    Rear Drive Shaft Replacement

It's on a lift getting one installed right now. Factory bearing p o o p ed the bed to where I could deflect it by hand by an inch or more. I can report back, but holding it in my hand it seems like a well made part. -

2011 Disco 4/LR4 catalytic converter fail

I would be very curious to have someone weld up a set of straight pipers with a b u n g on each end for the sensors and see if the truck had any problem with that. I may or may not know a bunch of 911 guys who have run that configuration with zero ill effects. And yes, I know they are supposed...

First time front hub replacement and pic of damaged threads with advice needed.

Agree that new axle is definitely necessary. Did you tap out the staking on the nut before removing the bolt? I'm guessing mistakenly overlooking that could ***** the threads depending on how heavily staked it was from the factory.

What's everyone's favourite replacement lower control arms?

I know they have their share of detractors, but I have had the orange poly bushings in the factory control arms (front and rear) for roughly 3 years now, and I have absolutely zero complaints, and they exhibit zero signs of me needing to deal with them anytime in the future.

    Order of off-road mods

You bring up a very good point about being top heavy. I started out with spare on the roof, along with other associated gear. First time I ever got into some significant off camber stuff was a very puckering experience. I went back and started over with the goal being to get absolutely as...

    Order of off-road mods

You can get into as much trouble in Colorado as you care to. These trucks are height limited. In that regard, IMO it is imperative to protect the underside because strategy in many cases becomes to get a tire up on an obstacle and then drag the length of the truck over it. If you want real...

    Dealership Multi-Point Inspection INSANE Recommendations!

Possibly, but don't most dealers create just as much margin from service as from sales? I know that was the case growing up when my Dad worked at a small town dealer. Maybe times have changed. I have been away from that business for a long time.

    Dealership Multi-Point Inspection INSANE Recommendations!

IMO, an out of warranty Rover should never darken the door of a dealership again. This makes me cringe, because my wife drives a 2016 supercharged L405, and she is a dealership believer. The only guy I let touch my LR4 besides me is a former long-time Rover dealer tech, but because he runs his...

    Leaking air spring replacement

I can vouch for LRDirect from the UK. I have ordered several times from them and the shipping is very quick. Most recently replaced my rear struts with the factory Delphi units from them. No issues to report.

    Map missing from Navigation

Part time Cape resident here. My favorite part of that is that they are generally installing a sign that says "Old Exit ***". Makes a lot of sense. I do wonder if the guys with boats named "Exit 11" and "Exit 10" will rename to the new numbering.

Battery terminals are clean without any corrosion. Batteries themselves are only couple months old. Although, a faulty connection would explain the symptom.

    Random LR4 Death and Resurrection

I did get back out and try the keyfob again. Nothing. Just dead. Good point on codes, but nothing set after 300 miles of driving and mulitple stops/restarts. I even tried the "hold the keyfob under the steering column" procedure. Again, nothing. It would not even pop the hatch/tailgate via...

    Random LR4 Death and Resurrection

Drove the Rover to the store over the weekend and locked the door via the touchpad on the handle. Came back out and unlocked with my key fob. Got in the truck and it was dead as doornail. No interior lights, no start when pushing button, no accessory mode or info screen light up, locks...
