LR4 5.0 V8 - recent timing chain service with 4 new camshaft adjusters - still seems somewhat noisy??

@djkaosone Thanks for that bit of information. I am chasing a ticking in mine right now, and just had my chains done about 8K miles ago. My intake cam degree is reporting at 77 for bank 1 and 76.4 for bank 2, so I'm going to cross the chains off my list of culprits. On the tensioning, are...

    Rear coolant line leak

Was it leaking from the passenger wheel well lines? Good call on the rubber hose, if so. Mine have been relocated and running through rubber for years without issue.

    Refueling out on the trail

Those storms are how I am absolutely sure the fording depth on my Rover is greater than the factory published spec. I wish I had a picture of me driving with my head out the window making sure I kept the bow wave arcing just below the driver's side intake. I measure the height of that intake...

Well, that sucks. The show must go on...(long story)

What is the dealers plan for the stripped tensioner bolt? Just tap it oversize, helicoil it, or something else. I understand the dealer having you over a barrel, but it is absolutely possible to weld on these engines. I had a waterpump bolt shear off on mine and neither myself nor my indie...

Well, that sucks. The show must go on...(long story)

Fire up the welder. The head is likely weldable, and on the completely stripped/floating tensioner bolt, I would want that filled and then redrilled and tapped. Not tapped oversize. The dealer might not be able to do it, but there are shops out there that can.

    Refueling out on the trail

That evac was crazy. I had friends who left Memorial and it took them over 36 hours to hit The Woodlands. Meanwhile, we left at like 2a.m., never hit a main road from Katy until Hwy 6 at 290 and sat in literally zero traffic. The whole thing was just bizarre.

    Refueling out on the trail

Don't feel too badly. After 5-6 years, I think, the fuel transfer pump on my auxiliary tank done died. Now I get the pleasure of dropping the tank to replace it. I installed as per the instructions upon initial install, but I'm going to cobble something together this time where the pump is...

    Refueling out on the trail

You can still get standard NATO jerry cans with the standard pour spout. You have to look around, but they are out there. This is what I used before I got an aux tank. No way it took more than a minute or so to empty the can.

Need a scrap AJ133 block, anyone have one?

You might give these guys a call. I have personally seen scrap 5.0 blocks in their shop. Might still have one around that hasn't been sent for scrap yet. Located in Katy, Texas. Joel is who you want to speak with. British Auto Solutions (832) 321-4127

    CTEK battery maintainer cable routing?

I have one of the solar panels on the hood. Even in direct sunlight, I have never seen it put out more than 80 watts, BUT it has been revolutionary in dealing with the damned "smart" charging on these trucks. Keeping a set of two batteries at full charge on these trucks had been a constant...

    CTEK battery maintainer cable routing?

You are correct, I was. If you aren't, consider the benefits before you make a decision. Mount the charger under-hood and then throw an extension cord in the truck and charge anywhere. Depends on your use case, I guess. I have a charger set-up on mine that way and I use it all the time when...

difference between front and rear valve blocks?

https://www.lrdirect.com/rvh000095-valve-levelling In stock. These guys ship fast and charges are fair for coming from the UK. I have sworn off most USA based places in favor of these guys at this point. They are often less expensive even considering shipping.

    LR4 Indi shop in MA

Not much of a lead to offer since I'm only on the Cape part time, but if you could track him down the tech named Brandon who used to be at Land Rover Hyannis before it closed knew these trucks well. That's pretty high praise from me as I normally despise dealer service departments.

    sagging confirmed, now what?

Not specific to any of this, but a few tips I have learned the hard way over the years when chasing these issues: 1. Do not reuse the brass voss fittings. It's tempting. They are expensive for what they are. It never worked for me in the long run. 2. When inserting air line into a new voss...

    Diagnosing AC Trouble

    Diagnosing AC Trouble

Anyone have any relevant experience diagnosing hvac problems? I'm conversant in auto ac systems, but don't have a lot of hands on experience. While driving, my truck will normally blow cold air as expected. However, it will intermittently start blowing warm air despite no changes being made...

Relocating the two hoses in the right rear wheel well

I did it similar to above. Just used 5/8 heater hose. Not a big deal. Follow the instructions in the service manual to get a good bleed done after it's buttoned back up. If you haven't already done it, take a hand sledge and pound that "shark fin" body joint flat, as well.

    2010 LR4 Off-road wheel and tire options

I agree it is good stock, and honestly, probably suits most people's uses just fine, but if you really push the thing, there is simply no substitute for tire diameter. I'm on 33's now, and my next set will be 35's, but I'm long past the point of being shy about taking a sawz-all to it. The...

HAHA. I had heard there was some type of shena****ns with GOE, but I never looked into it. My experience with them was super easy, but it was sometime back in 2014 or so. I wouldn't recommend paying anybody a third party mark-up at this point. All the parts are out there now, just be aware...
