Lr4 no start after coolant pipes replaced

460.00 to plug and unplug 2 connectors? Eeerk. I could live with 190.00, but no wonder everyone thinks dealerships suck.

Is it dangerous to drive with these warnings?

I always wonder about the "just driving along' claims. I have seen too many inexperienced drivers get in a 4wd and for some reason think they are in a tank and proceed to beat the devil out of them. In your neighbors case, without knowing the codes it's throwing, I would start by checking the...

How to get unstuck in deep water?

In a pinch you can put a rock or log underneath and then use the console switch to lower the truck onto the obstruction. The truck will sense that and then go into the extended and super extended routine.

    Lr4 misfire on all cylinders

I am not an early adopter for most things, but that Ford 7.3L has had my attention for a while. Good chance of it powering my next pickup depending upon how the real world reports stack up after a couple of years.

    Parasitic Draw

What I have done so far is to get the truck as "put to sleep" as I can make it. I then used my clamp-on amp meter to measure amperage coming out of the positive wire from the battery. That amperage is going somewhere, so my next thought was to pull fuses one by one while measuring the amperage...

    Lr4 misfire on all cylinders

Wow. I didn't realize those kits had come down in price that much. I remember them being 400ish. I guess the Chinese must be cranking them out now. Thanks for the link.

    Parasitic Draw

I do the same thing. It rides in the cubby beside the third row. Good for emergency use, but if I can manage the draw that is another layer of reliability.

    Parasitic Draw

So I'm looking for things to occupy my time instead of watching this quarantine flush my business down the toilet, and decided to take a little dive into the electrics on my LR4. To set up a baseline, I charged the battery for a full 24 hours, and then let the truck sit roughly another 30...

Tell an LR4 guy how to love that Defender rear door?

That narrow width is one of it's strong points. If you look at the specs it measures to be exactly one inch wider than a Wrangler. Very handy feature when dealing with the brodozer, lifted truck crowd. Them: "You can't go anywhere in that little thing. It's too damned low" Me: I'll bet you...

Probably dumb frame horn removal question

I would not leave them open. That would be a big, gaping hole waiting to get packed with mud, water, etc.

    Reliability

I don't disagree with those sentiments, but the reality is pretty much all manufacturing has followed that path. I'm getting really close to pulling the trigger on a new John Deere tractor to work some land I recently acquired and I am nervous as hell to get the thing and compare it to the 1983...

Engine oil leak front timing cover gasket

Do you have a timing chain issue that needs attention, or just a small oil leak? If it is just a small leak, apply some RTV or similar and drive on.

LR4 whining noise turned into a loud clicking noise now

I'm hesitant to say chains/tensioners because that doesn't sound anything like the known bad ones I have heard, but damn, that is a loud clicking. Free bump, because I want to know what that is.

    Reliability

That is most definitely conventional wisdom. I will say, though, that after owning the LR4 and a GLS450 following a long string of domestic SUV's, that the foreign ones, to this point (90K, and 50K miles respectively), have not proven to be any more trouble prone than the domestics were at...

    Reliability

You've got to find a competent rebuilder. The new transfer cases are obscene. No way I would go the new route. I had my front diff fully refreshed when I had the ARB locker installed and the price was very reasonable. I have never set up a diff before, so it was kind of fun watching the guy...

Tell an LR4 guy how to love that Defender rear door?

I'm sure I could fit a couple of square bales in there, if needed. Small square bale is 4'x6'. That would be tight through the rear. I would have to measure. Somebody try it and make yourself internet famous.... And gratuitous pics of lazy dogs. I love full collies, but somehow I keep...

Tell an LR4 guy how to love that Defender rear door?

Interesting. I just added a Collie/Great Pyrenees mix to go along with my Collie/Siberian Husky mix two days ago. Watching to see if these two guys can get along and coexist. Things get interesting when food comes out, because the Husky is a "take no sh@t" kind of pooch. I would say of both...

Rear brake job - ebrake in service mode?

The Bible has probably saved owners more money and cost dealers more profit than any other piece of work on the LR4/3. Thanks again, Bodsy.

Tell an LR4 guy how to love that Defender rear door?

Lol. Face it. The new Bronco is going to be what we wish the Defender was. I'm going to go pat my LR4 lovingly and tell her to rest easy; that no god-awful unibodied side swinging abomination will ever replace her.
