Anyone end up buying their Grenadier order

Neighbor lady at the subdivision we recently moved from had a 2017 D5, white with black trim. Barely drove it. Saw it pull out of the drive a couple times a month. Nice person. She came over one day and she positively commented on my LR4 and said she couldn't believe it was over 10-years...

Anyone end up buying their Grenadier order

I thought the Disco 5 was supposed to be the KIA killer. ;)

There may be nothing you can do... P0016

Mine is a daily driver I bought used to replace a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder that was totaled when I got rear-ended. Local vehicle sold by a private owner with reasonably low miles at a good price. Drove it and liked it. Seemed like a good comp to the Pathfinder. Bought it to drive it. To me...

There may be nothing you can do... P0016

Great! I can cross chains off the list of things to get neurotic about. I'm not going to drive it around with restricted performance codes and/or obvious bad noises coming from the engine.

There may be nothing you can do... P0016

That's interesting information, and comforting. My biggest fear is immediate and catastrophic engine failure that occurs without warning. Other stuff I can deal with, work around it, park the car until it can be fixed, or whatever. Otherwise, you can never be comfortable driving the car...

    2016 LR4 Landmark SCV6 Engine Failure at 65k. WWYD?

I wasn't trying to be snarky with my previous comment. That would be my legit first response. Then I'd get mad, like it sounds you are. Without getting into specifics of the why and how of it, no normally maintained engine should blow up at 65k miles, unless it's a KIA. You might have some...

    2016 LR4 autolocking

I took my LR4 to a local indy mechanic to do some routine work. When I came to pick it up, the key was missing, lost inside the car (turned out it slid deep under the driver's seat and it had to be pulled to get to the key). We knew the key was inside the vehicle because you could start it up...

At Long Last... Modern head unit!

Thanks to this thread, I finally figured out how to program the radio on my original head unit. I had one channel from the previous owner that I listened to (classic rock) but was never able to figure out how to save the other preset stations that I wanted to select. Turns out it was pretty...

    2016 LR4 autolocking

I've noticed that if my LR4 is locked and I unlock it remotely with the key fob while waiting for the kids to get out the door of the house and into the vehicle that it will relock itself if it takes too long for them to enter the car. That's the closest I've had to the experience you are...

Help to buy LR3 or RR Sport

Based upon year, miles, and maintenance (along with your personal experience driving both) sounds like the RR is the better vehicle. If the situations were reversed and the LR3 was newer, had a lot less miles, and a good maintenance history, I wouldn't think twice about choosing the LR3. But...

    Highest mileage LR4?

Just saw an LR3 for sale that has roughly 200,000 miles (Canadian). But the interesting thing is that it also claims to have a rear locker and from all the features listed, it sounds identical to my LR4 Lux. It's a 2006. That sound right?

    2013 LR4 Suspension Compressor

I'm greener than grass. For me, it's "safety first". I was on a level concrete slab with jack stands supporting the frame in front and behind the compressor. I did remove the rear wheel to give me better access and I slid that flat under the frame in the unlikely event the whole thing...

    2013 LR4 Suspension Compressor

In full disclosure, I just replaced my cheap Chinese suspension air compressor last night and this morning with a replacement the Chinese company covered under warranty. The original one gave out at the start of the week and I was showing "Only Normal Height Available". Just finished up the...

    Highest mileage LR4?

@ttforcefed that was rough reading, for sure. Seems like most of them were the SCV6. One 2012 V8 NA. It's anecdotal evidence, small sample size, "could happen with any vehicle" kind of stuff, but still... My sense is if you don't shell out the cash for the major preventative maintenance it...

    Highest mileage LR4?

@ftillier good point. You mean you haven't done your 125,000 mile engine replacement yet? I think I see that listed on the routine scheduled maintenance chart. ;) I'm not sure it's fair to think of a vehicle as a commodity. After all, you are upside down the minute you sign the paperwork on...

    Highest mileage LR4?

I was doing some research, exploring options, keeping my LR4, but looking at backup plans too. Researching the used vehicle market (mostly private party because I feel like dealers know what a car is worth). I came across a handful that I thought looked promising (at least on paper). However...

    2013 LR4 Suspension Compressor

I appreciate the fact that it may be a false economy. "Penny wise, pound foolish" and all that. Not suggesting it's for everyone or even a stable long-term solution. It may just be a band-aid to get you back up and running in the short to medium term. Plus, I have been looking at videos on...

    2013 LR4 Suspension Compressor

Found a German video on changing out the Hitachi. Good quality and detailed (German). :) They say you need to remove relay R7 and then replace it with a new one after the swap out. Not sure why that would be necessary. I've been able to deactivate the suspension air compression system by...

    2013 LR4 Suspension Compressor

@ryanjl makes sense for that use, but I'm 95% pavement. Occasional dirt or gravel road or grassy field or snow covered road is about as off-road as I can get. Strictly speaking, I've never "needed" to use off-road height, but still have just for the fun of it. I just don't like price gouging...

    2013 LR4 Suspension Compressor

Don't want to be responsible for someone else's choices, but I bought the cheapest Chinese Hitachi knockoff available on Amazon and had my mechanic friend install it and it has worked just fine. It cost like $135. I told my mechanic friend not to install it if anything looked off. His opinion...

    Highest mileage LR4?

@powershift I wouldn't mind owning one of those in the future once the trustifarians get bored and dump theirs for some new shiny thing. At that point, its value as a status symbol will have depreciated to zero and you can negotiate purchase price based upon its actual intrinsic worth.

    Highest mileage LR4?

I hear you @ftillier I'm big into personal satisfaction that comes with developed and demonstrated competence. I'm also onboard with the backup plan. Probably get me an old beat up minivan to drive around and if the wheels come off have it towed to the junkyard. A lot depends on how deep I...

    Highest mileage LR4?

Looking back at my standard of living and my lifestyle, I realize I've always been a "duct tape and baling wire" kind of guy. No choice. Had to make ends meet by whatever means necessary. That develops a low-level resourcefulness of sorts, but there are some things that only a little cash can...
