    Keeping radio on long term

Hey @chrisp check this out. I feel your pain. https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/drive-in-movie-theater-nightmare-on-elm-street.44853/#post-242393

Apple CarPlay for 2011 LR4 HSE

I recently bought my 2011 LR4 and it has occasional radio issues. Sometimes there's no sound, but it's always come back after a while. Often, when my wife calls, she can't hear me talking. Not always, but sometimes. That's not necessarily always a bad thing. I've never been able to get the...

Cleaning "Jag" (no need to comment)

It was one of the first truly nice days in Western Washington State and the urge struck me to hand wash and detail my 2011 LR4 HSE Lux (Santorini Black). I'm a first time Land Rover owner. Had it for a couple months. Still learning about the rig and what it can do, what problems it has, and...

At Long Last... Modern head unit!

This one looks pretty slick. It has a large screen for the head unit and a smaller screen for the climate control. https://www.euronavigate.com/products/land-rover-discovery-4-l319-2009-2016-10-4-inch-tesla-style-horizontal-car-android-head-unit Not sure if it works or anything else about...

LR4 - Is there an equivalent in ride/driving experience?

@mm3846 saw a Rivian R1S on I-5 headed South from Bellingham to Seattle. Thought of your post. Nice looking ride. Big. Would never guess it's electric. I did a bit of research on them and they have quite the range - over 300 miles.

2012 LR4 Reluctant to lower from off-road suspension mode

Thanks @djkaosone for the tip. I watched a video that was posted on one of the other threads and it looks like it's pretty simple to recharge your own system. Then the technician goes on to add some warnings and it starts to sound a bit ominous. Like they say, "It's always simple, until it's...

    2011 LR4 Honeymoon - Day 1

Went on a road trip for the day from Bellingham, WA to Renton, WA (South Seattle area). It was about 250 miles round trip and almost exclusively freeway. The good news is the LR4 drove just fine. It was solid the entire trip. I was nervous that it might break down along the way. I've only...

2012 LR4 Reluctant to lower from off-road suspension mode

Put 250 miles on the LR4 today (round trip) visiting my dad who just turned 94 and is in an assisted care situation. The rig performed admirably, solid as a rock. It was the first truly warm day of the year, got up to 80 degrees. Learned that the air conditioning wasn't blowing cold air, so...

That response deserved me than a simple like.

    Adding Upgrades to My 2012 LR4 -

I agree on the roof rack. Good looking and functional. My second might be a towing setup. Load capacity is a bottleneck and I figure I could leverage tongue weight to bring more useful stuff. I envision a small, squat, covered utility trailer on a single 3K axle. Pack that full of gear and...

2012 LR4 Reluctant to lower from off-road suspension mode

I've seen glimpses of this before, but this time I was looking right at it when it happened. I have an upward inclining driveway. I parked and walked around the front of the LR4 to enter the house. I heard a mechanical click and brief hiss. The front end lowered quickly, but in a controlled...

2012 LR4 Reluctant to lower from off-road suspension mode

Hi @Longtrail - you and I must be living parallel lives. 2011 LR4 Lux 5.0L V8 non-HD w/ 105,000 miles. I got the same fault code on my first scan w/ the unit you suggested. Mine says it's intermittent and I am not having the same problems you did (yet). I also have an inclined driveway and...

    2011 LR4 Honeymoon - Day 1

The status of roughly 1/2 of the codes are "historic" and 1/2 "intermittent". I assume the historic are problems that were resolved in the past. Not sure about the intermittent. Would those be "communication" errors that can be ignored? I looked up intermittent code errors. Some dealerships...

    2011 LR4 Honeymoon - Day 1

I got a cheap diagnostic tool today. That was discouraging in all sorts of ways. First, it did show faults, so at least I knew it worked. In fact, out of a list of 30 items, 17 came back with some sort of fault. The next thing I realized is I have no idea how to interpret those faults. Is...

    Suspension Fault Issues

Got the cheapo unit today and synced it up with the vehicle. It did come back with some faults. Since @Longtrail recommended it and has used it maybe he can point out which direction is North. Reading various posts, it seems the first step most people take is to clear all the faults and see...

    FS: GAP IID Tool BT

I'm in Bellingham, WA and just ordered the cheap Amazon diagnostic tool. Will have it tomorrow and may want to upgrade depending on how it works. By the way, why did you only use it 3 times?

LR4 - Is there an equivalent in ride/driving experience?

Below is a video of a test drive of the Ineos Grenadier for those that are interested. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=lr+time+Grenadier&t=brave&iax=videos&ia=videos&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DqzCKIggllps

    Suspension Fault Issues

The cheap diagnostic tool should give me a taste. If that leads to a larger appetite, I'm only out $49 and will spring for the proper diagnostic tool.

    Suspension Fault Issues

Thanks for the good advice. My sense is it's a balance. You don't want to go "chasing problems on an LR4", but you don't want to ignore things that could be a real problem (even if they seem small). For instance, I've got a cowl ordered through my local independent glass shop (family owned...

    Suspension Fault Issues

Yes, ftillier, I'm afraid you're absolutely right. The Defender seems cool, but the more I learn about it (and other options) the more I'm starting to appreciate the 5.0L V8 LR4 I already have. The grass must be pretty green on your side of the fence when you look to the other side and say...

    Suspension Fault Issues

I get the occasional suspension fault upon start up. I turn the rig off and then press the starter button w/ the brake off, let it run through its system checks, start back up, and the fault is gone. I drive almost exclusively in normal mode. Not sure why it throws these random faults. I...

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

Found another 2012 LR4 for sale in the Spokane area with a locking rear differential. Pretty nice looking bronze. Being sold through a curbside dealership, but the price isn't bad.

LR4 - Is there an equivalent in ride/driving experience?

I hear ya jerrygmeyers, I haven't towed with the LR4 yet, but I like having the 7,700 lbs. capacity. What I was surprised to see is the price point on the Broncos aren't insane. Don't get me wrong, they are still considerable, but modest compared to other vehicles playing in that same sandbox.

LR4 - Is there an equivalent in ride/driving experience?

I've been seeing a lot of these new Ford Broncos around. I have to admit, they catch my eye. Not sure how they drive or anything else about them. Anyone test drive/own one?

LR4 - Is there an equivalent in ride/driving experience?

Maybe the Defender 130. I saw a video where it was driving, and at a pretty good clip, over washboard ruts and the wheels were bouncing and rattling around, but the body somehow magically never seemed to move, stayed absolutely level and on plane. Never been in one myself, but everyone seems...
