Remove the caliper pins one at a time, clean off the old gunk and regrease with silglyde. The silicone does not swell the rubber bushing in the lower pin of the caliper. All other lubes/grease I have used have been nasty to the bushing...
What was the general condition of the rotors? Did they have a sizeable lip from wear? I assume they were still above minimum thickness spec?
Did you:
Clean and grease the caliper sliding pins (silicone only)
Use fresh brake hardware (pad retaining clips) with a dab of silicone on the pad tabs...
I got the rig up on ramps, removed the plastic cover under the alternator and had a leisurely inspection. No fresh oil, just residual stuff from before. The alternator was not oil covered )good). No leak from valve cover seam or vacuum pump. Will monitor but I think it all stemmed from that...
lol. Ok just checking, I assumed someone willing to pull injectors knew what bank they were on but never hurts to ask. Yeah sounds strange. You pulled the fuel line that goes over the engine to remove your valve cover. Check around the PCVs again to make sure something didn't get jarred or...
No they shouldn't squeal. Did they replace the rotors on the last brake service? That little lip from the wear can make things noisy until things get bedded better (or not)
Beware the Akebonos don't have the same "bite" as the OE pads that make your wheels filthy. I have had good luck with Brembo ceramics which are about 1/2 between stock and akebonos for mess. They have good feel and power.
While I am generally not a fan of tinting tailights I applaud your effort for an improved look. Put me in the camp of not liking the LR4 taillights, I much prefer my LR3 reds.
OK sounds good. Lets see if the high mileage oil swells the seals enough to stop the madness. Seems really weird that the old alternator was dry and then bam! oil on the new one less than 1k kms later. The oil on the alternator was golden though so new.
I have been chasing down an oil leak. In the process of swapping diff/transfer fluids I noticed there was clean oil on the new alternator (Nov 2022). Old alternator was dry. In between Nov and now I also performed an oil change where I noticed for the first time that the filter oring had become...
Yeah the long wheelbase Defender looks awful. If they could have kept the tire off the back gate I may have considered the short 4 door. As it looks now? Maybe a Lexus GX and replace that awful front end with a bush bar setup.? Don't know.
Looks awkward and made worse with a bunch of useless accessories bolted on. The swing tire would be OK if it was removeable. Put it on when actually off road out in the boonies but when in the city not needed and in the way.
LR4 FTW!
The obsolete 925 spec is simply a long interval spec (ie. the oil has a crap ton of inhibitors added to allow long oil change intervals). Use a quality 5W-20 synthetic, good filter and a reasonable oil change interval of 5-7.5k miles (certainly not Land Rovers 16k mile/24k km) and live a...
