true. Hard reset is disconnecting the cables. Touch them together for a few minutes (10) and reinstall. Other than that you have covered all the bases. -

Bingo. The old Honda method of transmission fluid changes. Do the reservoir suck procedure 3 times and you have most of the old stuff out. Outside of being more visually appealing I am not sure it accomplished anything. (new fluid) -

No rear tire carrier, it increases the compact length. It's one of the biggest drawbacks to the new defender. -

Owner got a long block though from Land Rover so with heads but the rest was swapped over. Original quote was $30k (dealer) but the final price was likely lower since through independent? Otherwise as I read it: Vehicle $20k, maintenance $13k and engine $30k. $63k but perhaps the nicest LR4 around? -

Disconnecting your battery won't clear codes. After a few restarts the codes should go away if they are no longer being triggered. How does the vehicle run? -

That smells (pun intended) like a head gasket/block problem. High combustion pressure forcing it's way into cooling system but not able to escape back. Like a one way valve.. We don't have a proper rad cap where you can remove it and watch the coolant flow by. Pull a rubber glove over the neck...
