FWIW I currently have 3 vehicles on snow tires. The gen1 Honda Ridgeline (Blizzak DMV2) is the best handler on packed icy streets. The LR4 (Blizzak DMV2) is not as good on packed stuff/ice but if the conditions get real deep and nasty it starts to outperform the Honda (It slides around but...
They are heavy and weight does not like to change direction. That being said our LR4 is a little goat in the snow albeit on dedicated winter tires. Your tires are a compromise on the snow. For real performance in the snow you need soft compound real winter tires.
A 13 year old cooling system built entirely of plastic? I am sure it seemed like a good idea at the time it was designed to use plastic but the whole thing is likely rotten.
It's never a bad idea to know exactly where you sit with a car. I know each kilometer I drive my LR4 is $0.10 Cdn in maintenance (no fuel). My Ridgeline is $0.05 Cdn. The LR3 is $0.11. Takes almost no effort to track these.
Did you deglaze and cross hatch the rotors with emery cloth when you swapped the pads? If you reused the rotors the surfaces are no longer 100% flat. It will take awhile for the pad to shape to the old rotor. What was the problem getting the old rotors off?
I highly recommend the 2023+ XC or the 2024+ XCW (depending on your riding style and terrain). Game changers. Avoid the first couple years of TBI if you must go that way but really the new chassis and suspension are worth it on the new models.
Common. Just grab with some pliers and try to back it out. If it won't back out then drill it. I drilled mine with a twist bit and most plastic came out. I used a brass replacement. The remaining bits came out when I bled system.
