Coolant Leaking from behind rear wheel

If you are lucky it is just a line. 1) Crawl under and have a look. 2) Open panel and have a look. Report back. BTW Coolant should not be green unless they used some type of Volvo OAT coolant.

Why do american trucks get much better mpg that the lr4?

LOL yes velocity contribution to drag is squared.

    Batteries

LR4's smart alternator does not do the battery any favours. This is not your father's Oldsmobile. Buy a trickle charger, especially if you use heated windshield, heated rear, four seat heaters and of course the steering wheel and like to make short trips.

    Which would you rather?

What is around the wheels in that pic? Rat traps?

    maintenance history since new 2013

Like I said before, water pumps are not worth going cheap. My Beck Arnley failed in 3k miles. Redoing the job + coolant. Also agree withe LCAs. Cheap ones fail fast and there is alignment cost. What your time worth is always a consideration. In general I agree that the age of the V8s these are...

    maintenance history since new 2013

While I agree with most of your post I suggest that running a $100 non OE water pump is false economy. Been there, done that and was replacing again in 5000 miles. Also could you post a link for 4 air springs for $500? Would also be interested in 4 rotors, 2 sets of pads for $250.

    Highest mileage LR4?

How about some positive news? In 2023 I spent a grand total of $195 Canadian on the 2010 LR4 upkeep. That's like $145 US. $115 ($85 US) for front &rear diff fluid and transfer case fluid. $80 ($59 US) for a Wix XP filter and Mobil1 5W-20 EP high mileage.

    Highest mileage LR4?

Yup the math doesn't work. With myself turning the wrenches for most things my $ per mile for upkeep is $0.11/km Canadian or $0.13/mile US. About double that of my Honda.

Low tire pressure indicator light didn't shut off

Just keep the speed down and don't over torque when tightening it up, just snug is the best. The mechanism is fragile with a press fit of the gears on the shaft. A little too much twist and the assembly is *****. If you have a dead one I encourage you to grind the pins and split it open to see...

Low tire pressure indicator light didn't shut off

The old one is a press fit on the shaft so ince it is over torqued it slips and becomes non functional. I tried. Very cheap and flimsy design. Hopefully the loop model is more stout.

Low tire pressure indicator light didn't shut off

Correct. Hook from jack. Nut style was replaced for exactly the reason stated.

    Highest mileage LR4?

2010 with 220k kms (138k miles). Yearly OCI about 10 k kms (6k miles). Will see oil indicator drop from full to halfway (but level OK) so about 1/2 quart to 1 quart.

    maintenance history since new 2013

I account for two costs, I don't include fuel, registration and insurance. Those would be scary numbers Of the costs I track: 1) Maintenance is everything that was put into or onto the car (parts & labour) 2) General depreciation which includes what I paid and what I could realistically sell...

Is this a failing crossover pipe?

buy a OE water pump. Should have a jumping cat on it (Jaguar).

Be honest! What's the deepest snow you've driven in with your LR4

If you can afford the upkeep they are fine as daily drivers. IMO they are expensive miles if you are piling the mileage on.

Is this a failing crossover pipe?

Hey you came back! Perhaps they did some plumbing before your sale and all you did was burp a couple air bubbles?

Be honest! What's the deepest snow you've driven in with your LR4

I wouldn't bother with winters. Perhaps some type of modern chain/strap system that you can throw on for the odd crazy situation. Maybe some type of all weathers.

Is this a failing crossover pipe?

OP never came back. Eating a pint of coolant every week or so and no visible leaks? Sounds like a head and there is a good chance why this vehicle was dumped in the first place. Look I scooped up a cool LR4 for almost nothing and it looks brand new!

How many days a year do you see yourself driving on accumulated snow ?
