    Rusted brake line

Well... there's a few common ways to do the job: 1. Lift the body and replace the lines. (its just a matter of time til the other side rusts out) 2. Work from underneath as your Inde suggests. or 3. Run a new line in a different location, without any of the work described above. (Can't...

    Howto: DIY LR4 Alternator replacement

Its true that the variable output generator does adjust output based on load. But you have no extra load. Also, there is no definitive proof that the high output generator will last any longer than what is spec’d. So me, I’d stick with OE, as you said, it lasted this long. Cheers.

Yes, these are all essential maintenance items. Its good its getting done. While you’re in there, pcv valve, rear coolant hoses, change the supercharger fluid.

    2015 LR4 - Major engine work - Sell / Sell Parts

As I understand it, could do, if oil changes were not frequent enough. Certainly far more rare than the 5.0, prior to the tensioner redesign. Touch wood, at 180,000km I’m on the original set.

    2015 LR4 - Major engine work - Sell / Sell Parts

@TimVZ , glad you're getting things sorted. FWIW, in Canada, the rebuilt engine for my LR2 was sourced and installed at the Jaguar/Land Rover dealer. It came with a 1 year parts and labour warranty. And plenty of good will on other things that needed doing.

Is that the price for repair from the LR dealer or an Independent? I think its worthy to check both.

Coolant leak & collapsed top hose when cold?

I did marginally overfill my reservoir purposely in the hopes of filling any air pocket.... and it stays that way without issue or overflowing.

No pre warnings of the catastrophic event? How often did you change the oil? How often was the level checked?

Coolant leak & collapsed top hose when cold?

Well, it may remain collapsed as it's cold. When it heats up it will be fine. Good call in overfilling the reservoir. After a run, it should equalize. But the larger point is at 45k, its getting to be time for a fluid change.

Difficulties finding steering shaft parts! If you have access to OEM catalogs, help!

There can be a subtle difference between OE and OEM. I learned the hard way once with a replacement generator.

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

Well, in the old days we really relied on the tripometer. GPS took over that responsibility. You will be marginally off. Does it really matter??

PSA - Kings Cross Automotive, SW Washington state

Coincidentally, I took the XJR to a ZF service centre for it's first pan and fluid change, years ago (when Jaguar was adamant it was sealed for life) They refitted seals and valves on the valve body at that time.

Original filter…. Dirty filters restrict flow… The replaced plastic pan works fine for me. I have heard of sealing issues with the metal pan. I’ve had 2 pan changes to date on this one. I’m at 180,000 km. Cheers.

PSA - Kings Cross Automotive, SW Washington state

Yeah… I make my 6hp work hard. No issues. I am most reluctant to put anything into the 8hp unless its ZF endorsed. At 180,000 km, 2nd pan and fluid change, its as smooth as can be.

    Camshaft Position Sensor Code P0390

Good call, though I think @Range\ Rover’s point was to confirm it was in fact the sensor and not the camshaft. FWIW, in my LR2, it was the cam. Thankfully a new engine and some accessories were on warranty. Glad you’re sorted.

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

Holy cow! Never heard of that happening. Out of interest how many miles? I’m wondering if that should be a maintenance item, like the rear coolant cross over pipes.

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

@CRYA You are entitled to be wrong about the colour;-). But your front bumper is awesome. @Abram Those wheels and tires look just about “Right”. What was the fuel episode all about?

    Auxiliary Battery

I beg your pardon, I wrongfully interpreted your response as “significantly detrimental, if not life threatening to the engine”. And the jury is out on that by most engineers in the business. As as I mentioned, its not about saving the money on fuel to me. Nonetheless, continue as you do. And...
