Now I'm curious. I was not aware of such a thing. When I get my truck back tomorrow (in the shop having the rear bumper fixed after pulling it loose while rock crawling) I will look around and see what I can see. Maybe this is only in the MY15?- danrhiggins

I take it back then. Obviously I have never been on a hill that slick! Videos like this can help novices like me see what NOT to do. :smile: I just assumed that he started off to fast then couldn't regain control. But I was projecting my lack of experience onto him.- danrhiggins

OK, either the video was sped up or your friend went down this hill far too fast! :eek: I am thinking the person recording the video was feeling a bit nervous as the truck came at him! I'm thinking that being in 4L, 1st gear and/or Hill Descent control would have made this much more...- danrhiggins

Ha! Maybe I should have had it on when I was in Moab a couple of weeks and broke part of my bumper loose! Actually, it was the far right end of the bumper so in this case wouldn't have helped. But I may look at this.- danrhiggins

I actually do store it in the upper left cubby along with a few other items (locking lug nut key, etc.) but I wrap them in a rag since I often find a rag useful when messing around underneath the truck. The rag and other items help keep it from rattling around.- danrhiggins

'14 LR4 Rear bumper replacement - options?
Looks like I will need to replace the rear bumper (or just leave it hanging or superglue it to the frame.) Some of the attachments on the inside of the bumper broke off. So is there an aftermarket rear bumper for the 2014 with will accommodate the sensors. (I actually like the rear sensors...- danrhiggins

Thanks, Umberto. I'll look at that in the morning. I tried a bit. But it does look like a couple attachment brackets broke off in a couple of places. I am going to look at after market bumpers. If fixing this becomes too expensive I'll just use the opportunity to put a more offroad capable...- danrhiggins

I heartily agree. I went extremely slow and very carefully. And pretty smooth as well. But I need a lot more experience on picking the line. Yesterday was a good learning experience. Here are a couple pics of the damage. Obviously not serious. Just a hassle that I'll need to get it...- danrhiggins

Hmmm. Not sure which section you did from Tower Arch to Salt Valley Rd. There is both a hiking trail and a 4x4 trail. The hiking trail runs straight from the Tower Arch to Salt Vally Rd. and goes down to a parking area of the hikers. It is just a bit easy of the 4x4 "road" which is 3 mile...- danrhiggins

Nice job, Axel. The trail isn't "difficult". It just took more time than I had planned for and with my lack of experience I was being extra careful. So my poor planning left me racing back (in the opposite direction you did it as I was passing Eye of the Whale at sunset) to have as much light...- danrhiggins

More experienced drivers will need to prep to me here but I seem to remember that even in off-road height you still have another 2 inches for extreme situations. OK. I agree with your wife. The one you had was a POS. You definitely had a lemon and questionable support from your dealer. Maybe a used one would be a safer way to go - where someone else has tested it out. But I know. It takes time to put those sorts of experiences behind you.- danrhiggins

Hmmm. This has me wondering about wrapping mine as well. I have twice had some pretty good pinstripes this last season (first season) which took either a lot of time or a lot of money to get out. I wrapped the front but maybe I should do the sides.- danrhiggins
