I tow basically what you just bought with the LR3. When you start getting into longer lengths The area that wind is blowing against the side of the trailer is huge. It starts to become the tail waging the dog pretty easily, since the wheel base of the Rover is pretty short. There isn’t much...
Almost all wheels are tapered in the inside. So larger diameter on the inner edge and smaller at the spoke side. LR 18” wheels have too much taper so the wheel won’t fit all the way on to the hub without hitting the caliper. You need the spacer so the wheel is setting further out allowing it to...
LR4s in US all came with 19” or larger wheels. You cannot fit LR3 18” wheels over calipers the from an LR4 without spacers. You would also have to get new caliper carriers. Many LR4 owners are putting LR3 discs and calipers on to be able to put 18”s on.
This isn’t totally true. The iid tool will only allow you to adjust up a certain amount. Depending on your sensor calibration it may be as little as 10mm. What I have done is use adjustable rods then recalibrate the ride height down to the normal stock level. This keeps the cv joints straighter...
Lots of your “faults” are not faults or due to your work already done without knowing what your doing.
Check Brake pads - there are wear sensors on each wheel that need to be replaced when you replace pads
Suspension fault - you took out the air suspension but didn’t reprogram the computer to...
Your best bet to figuring this out and will probably pay for its self the first time you use it is to buy an iid tool from gap diagnostics. It will read all your fault codes and point you in the right direction if not tell you exactly what is wrong. The tool also does a number of other cool...
Just got 2 new keys $82 all in plus iid tool which I already had. $16 a piece for keys $25 per key to get cut. The hardest part is finding somewhere to get the keys cut. Had to go to 7 places before I had success. Not all Ace hardwares have the right equipment and the Ford dealer tried and...
I have the exo grappler in a 265/65/18. They are much more aggressive than the terra grappler. They are noisier but not bad. I have only about 1000 miles on the so I don’t know about longevity. The reason I bought them was about $300 in savings between the KO2 and the exo grappler, also the...
This is more for others reading this for future swaps because you're already in the middle of the job. When replacing the original Hitachi compressor with the AMK you should order the complete kit. Part # LR061663 is what you need. The kit includes the hoses required to reroute the air lines it...
I didn't find hubs of brake drums in a 5x120 but 5x4.75 is 5x120.6 which does work. I ended up needing to make spacers for wheel clearance so I made5x4.75 to 5x120 spacers
What brand of compressor did you put in? The AMK needs an ecu reflash. Your faults sound like you need a sensor height calibration done though. All of this can be done with the IID tool.
Sorry, I'm a little late to this. Have you checked your compressor? I had very similar issues when mine was going bad. If the compressor isn't running you will get these faults. On the IID tool check the gallery pressure while the truck is running it should be over 1500 kPa.
I can do build with the new discovery HSE with 7 seats and a hi/low transfer case and air suspension for an MSRP of $59100. So what other options do do you think you need to spec out to make it comparable to the LR4 SE?
Build your own is up at landroverusa.com towing here in the States is 8201lbs. The 3500kg (7716 lbs) in Europe is because of drivers licensing. With air suspension you get 11.18" of clearance and 35.4" wading depth.
The faults are most likely due to the bad alignment. There is a steering position sensor that was telling the computer that the vehicle should be turning but the wheel speed sensors were telling the computer that it was going straight. Therefore, the computer says something is wrong and am going...
My concern with this video is they are using 1000 lbs tongue weight for a 4000 lb. trailer. Why are they not using the standard 10-15% tongue weight which would be 400-600 lbs. if they wanted to show the effects of a 1000 lb. tongue weight why not use a 10,000 lb. trailer?
